Roller Chain Manufacturer Introduced That Chain Drives Are Widely Used

Due to the widespread use of chain drives, manufacturers and users often have friction on quality issues. How to identify their quality problems is the key to solving the problem. Therefore, Roller Chain manufacturers analyze the common problems that occur during the use of chain drives. And discuss, and put forward its solution for the reference of chain manufacturers and users.

1. Lubrication of chain drive
The proper maintenance of any chain drive requires proper lubrication. The wear and fatigue of the chain, the wear and corrosion of the sprocket, the inflexible links or the tight hinges are all related to lubrication. If the chain wears faster, the pin changes color, and the operation is not stable, indicating insufficient lubrication of the chain.
Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to use the following lubricants: temperature 200-400C use 20th oil, 400-1000C use 30th oil, 1000-1200C use 40th oil, 1200-1400C use 50th oil. The lubrication method can be manual. Brush or oil pot for oil lubrication. The environment requires chains with shells to be lubricated with shallow oil or dripping oil. If the operating temperature exceeds 3000C and cannot be lubricated with petroleum, it is more effective to use a solution of colloidal graphite dispersed in carbon tetrachloride or white kerosene.

Second, the faults in the chain drive and troubleshooting methods

1. The parallelism of the front and rear axes and the coplanarity of the sprocket:
In terms of wear life, the performance of the chain depends to a large extent on the correct installation of the front and rear axles and sprockets. The requirement is that the parallelism of the front and rear axes is within 1/300. The coplanarity of the front and rear wheels is 0.5-1.0mm / m. If the above problems are found during the operation of the chain, it should be adjusted in time.

2. Chain tension:
The tension of the chain is related to the sagging distance of the loose side of the chain. For horizontal and tilt drives with adjustable center distance, the sag of the loose side of the chain should be 2% of the center distance. The vertical transmission of the centerline or vibration load, the reverse transmission should make the chain more tensioned.

3. Chain and sprocket cooperation:
If the chain and sprocket are not well coordinated, the chain hinge may be worn and the pitch is extended. If there is a tooth jump, the chain should be replaced in time. If the sprocket is worn, it must be replaced to avoid damage to the new chain.

4. Chain jitter:
The cause of chain jitter is that the chain is too loose, the load is too heavy, or one or more links are not flexible. The solution is to install chain tensioning device or adjustable center distance. Reduce the load if possible.

5. Excessive noise during chain operation:
The reason for the excessive noise is that the sprockets are not coplanar; the chain is too tight or too small; insufficient lubrication; the chain and sprocket are worn; or the chain pitch size is too large.
The solution is to check the coplanarity of the front and rear axes parallel to the sprocket to correct it. Adjust the center distance and tensioning device to obtain proper tightness and ensure lubrication to the workpiece.

6. Side grinding of chain plate:
If the inner surface of the inner link chain plate is badly worn, it means that the transmission is not aligned. The solution is to check the alignment of the shaft and sprocket. If there is no problem with the installation, it can be observed whether the rigidity is insufficient due to excessive load deformation during operation.

7. Chain plate fatigue:
When the load is too large and exceeds the fatigue limit of the chain plate, the chain plate will fatigue and produce micro cracks around the hole until it breaks.
The solution is to reduce the load or replace the chain with large carrying capacity.

8. Pin shaft wear:
Usually pin wear is caused by insufficient lubrication. Always check the lubricant for abrasives or change the lubrication method.

9. Pin glue:
Pin glue is generally caused by insufficient oil supply. If only one end is glued, check the installation of the shaft and sprocket, whether the shaft is parallel, whether the sprocket is coplanar, and whether the shaft and sprocket move during operation.

10. Sprocket tooth wear:
If there is obvious wear on both sides of the sprocket teeth, the transmission alignment is not good. If there is a "bent groove" indicating excessive wear, the sprocket should be replaced, or the sprocket can be reversed so that the lightly worn side faces the chain. The excessively worn sprocket and chain are replaced together.
