イタリア旅行1 ローマ１ 到着 Italy1 Arrving in Rome

2018年6月7日（木）から16日（土）まで、イタリアに行ってきました。

成田空港からローマのレオナルド・ダ・ビンチ　フィウミチーノ空港まで、アリタリア航空の直行便で約12時間半。

日本との時差は7時間（イタリアは夏時間）でした。

It takes about 12 hours and a half from Narita (NRT) to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) by airplane, Alitalia.

The time difference between Japan and Italy (summer time) is 7 hours.

入国審査は混んでる～！

So crowded to enter the country!

 

驚きは、空港のコンビニで、350mlの普通のジュースが€3.20 (400円)以上。
しかも、小銭ではなく紙幣で支払おうとしたら、物凄い嫌な顔をされてびっくり。”Sorry. Sorry."と言うしかなかった。
さらに驚いたのは、€2.00くらいの水を買おうとした人は、紙幣で買おうとしたら、売ってもらえませんでした。こんなことがあるの～～～？！
驚くべきイタリア！

To my astonishment, it cost €3.20 (three euro and twenty cents/ three point twenty eruo) to buy a 350ml-bottle of juice at the convenience store at the airaport ! Very expensive!

Moreover a clerk frowned at me when I tried to pay by a ten-euro billl, not coins. I had to say "Sorry, Sorry....". 

The man behind me tried to buy a bottle of water costing €2.00, but he failed.  The clerk rejected a bill and he didn't have small change.  Amazing Italy

日本円からユーロへの両替は、成田空港の千葉銀行でやりました。￥132.01/€1.00。　
ユーロへの両替、成田空港のレートは良かったです
でも、残念ながら、小銭の用意はなかったです。

I exchanged yen for euro at Chiba Bank at Narita Airport.  ￥132.01/€1.00.  Narita Airport is the best place to exchange yen for euro!
Unfortunately they didn't prepare coins.

 

↑【レオナルド・エクスプレス】空港とテルミニ駅をダイレクトに結ぶ（32分）シャトルトレインで、すべて1等車の自由席。06:23～23:23の15～30分間隔で運行。料金は、€14.00。お手洗い有。　

 

ローマ到着は夜の7:00pm。でも外は昼間のよう。この時期のローマは9：00頃までは明るい！
空港から8：38pm発の電車に乗って、終点であり、ローマの中心にあたるテルミニ駅へ9:10pm到着しました。

I arrived in Rome at 7:00pm in the night…but  it wasn't dark at all.  They say it doesn't get dark until 9:00 in this period.
The train left the airport at 8:38pm and reached Roma Termini, which is the terminal station and the center of Rome, at 9:10pm.

 

電車の中では、1歳半の男の子がぐずっていて、それをなだめるのに必死の若いお母さんと遭遇。

ドイツから飛行機で2時間ほどかけて来たとのこと。男の子にとっては初めての飛行機で、疲れてしまったようで…私のスーツケースについていた、Docomoのドコモダケ・キーホルダーを触らせて上げると、少し機嫌が戻りました。

若いお母さんはホットしたようで、これからローマに住んでいる友達のところに行くのだと教えてくれました。

それからは、色々なことを話しました。彼女は泳ぐのが好きで、子供ができる前は、タイやインドネシアにダイビングに行って、東南アジアが大好きになったとか。ドイツでは、家のそばの湖で泳ぐようで、「寒くないよ」とは言っていたけど、息子君は冷たい水はあまり好みではないとか。やはり相当寒いのでは…と想像。

日本にも来たいけれど、東南アジアに比べると物価が高すぎて、まだ来ていないと言うことも....（後で気づいたけれど、イタリアに比べたら、日本の物価はものすごく安いと思いますが…）是非是非、日本に来て欲しいと言っておきました。

最後に、「ドコモダケとは何？」と聞かれ、「ドコモは日本で有名な携帯電話会社だけど、ドコモダケはドコモキノコ？と言うただのおまけ」などと説明して、記念にむりやり押し付けました　また、お礼を言われてしまったけれど、本当に大したものではないとわかったら、ガッカリするかな？
ところで、彼女はドイツ人でしたが、とてもわかりやすい英語を話してくれて、
後で、それが特別、貴重な事であったと、わかるのでした…これはまた、別の話…

On the train I met a young German mother with a one-and-half-year-old baby. 
She said it took about 2 hours from Germany to Rome.

It was the first trip by plane for her son, so he was in a bad temper. I had a tiny stuffed animal called Docomo-dake fastened to my suitcase as a mark.  I let him touch it and play with it. He got pleased with it and his mother seemed relieved. 

She was to visit her friend living in Rome.  We enjoyed talking a lot.  She had been to Thailand and Indonesia to scubadive, but never been to Japan because "prices were too high", she said. 　(Later I got to know how high prices are in Italy compared to in Japan...I'll write about it if occasion arises.)

I told her to come to Japan because she is so active that she must enjoy Japan.

At last she asked me, "What is Docomo-dake?"   I explained, "Though Docomo is a Japanese famous big cellphone company, this Docomo-dake mushroom is just a freebie, a small thing." Then I gave it to her son as a souvenir. 

His mother expressed her gratitude again…but I'm afraid she will be disappointed if she knows it's really valueless thing...

By the way, she spoke really nice English even though she was a German.  Later I found that was really valuable thing...!

↑サンタ・マリア・マッジョーレ教会/Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
テルミニ駅から徒歩5分。聖母マリアのお告げ「真夏に雪の降る場所に教会を建てよ」に従い、356年8月雪が降ったこの地にできた教会？
鐘楼の高さは75mでローマで最も高い。内部にJump to searchジャン・ロレンツォ・ベルニーニ(Gian Lorenzo Bernini)の墓がある。

ローマでは、多くの人が道端でたばこを吸って、しかもポイ捨てが当たり前のようです

早朝、清掃車が来て、道端を掃除しています。（午前8時ごろ）

Many people smoke on the roads and through away cigarettes.
So the cleaning tracks clean the roads early in the morning.　(around 8:00am)

↑駅のトイレを使うにも、€1.00かかります。

You need €1.00 to use the toilet at the station. 

時刻表には、列車の行き先、出発時刻、一番右側にプラットホームが表示されます。

現在時刻が09:33am、しかし、09:45発MILANO行きの列車のプラットホーム番号が出ていません。どういうこと？

さらに、出発予定時刻の横の20'とか5'とか書いてありますが、これは…

よく見るとdelayの文字が～～　そうなんです。やっぱり遅れているんです。だから、どのプラットホームに列車を入れるか、決まっていないのでした

A train schedule, which shows destination, time of departure, and platform, is displayed on the board.

It is 9:33am now.  But you can't see the number of platform for the train leaving for Milano at 9:45. What happened?

Moreover can you see numbers displayed right of the time of departure like '20 or '5.

If you gaze the board, you'll find the word "delay" on the top of the numbers.

That's why the platform can't be decided earlier!
