Another 35 people were now in hospital after several homes were engulfed in the Dosquebradas municipality, Risaralda province, on Tuesday.」

土砂崩れで死者。この国では珍しいことではないが―と書かれている事情は、本邦的にもひとごとではない。しばしば険しい山腹に家を建てているので、雨季には非常なリスクが―って、うちの国でもかなり…だ。

「Spanish police say they have busted a maritime drug-running operation that allegedly faked sailing boat accidents, including one with a killer whale, to smuggle hashish from Morocco.」
「The police said that in one incident last year, the gang said their boat had been attacked by an orca, apparently using the deception to throw the authorities off their unusual manoeuvres at sea.」
極端な場合と信じたいが、「うちの船がシャチと衝突してイカレちまったんですよ！ 急いで入港させなきゃ！」と密輸船を港に入れようとしたこともあったそうで―いやまあ、疑われずにいけちゃった例もあるのだろうけど…。
モロッコでは、先日、古井戸または井戸として掘ったが放置された穴に子供がはまり、結局救出できずに死なせてしまった事例があったそうで。

「The Moroccan authorities have decided to survey all abandoned wells across the country after a trapped young boy died in a valiant but unsuccessful rescue attempt last week.
Rayan's plight at the bottom of a narrow 32m ((104ft) deep borehole gripped millions in Morocco and beyond.」
32mもの穴を放置したら―まあなあ。そんなわけで、取り締まりを厳しくするよ、という。
モーリタニアは英国領ということになっているChagos諸島へ政府肝いりの船を派遣。領有権の主張につなげたい模様。

「The Mauritian government has raised its national flag on board a boat heading to the disputed Chagos archipelago, deep in the Indian Ocean.
This is the first time that Mauritius has sent a vessel independently to the islands, as it seeks to enforce its claim to a vast maritime zone which two United Nations courts have now determined are occupied illegally by the UK.」
「Britain’s foreign office has responded in a conciliatory manner to the trip, noting that the Mauritian government had informed them of its plans “to conduct a scientific survey close to the Chagos Islands”.」
「Five Chagossians, who were forced from their homes by the UK when it took control of the islands half a century ago, are also on the boat, and plan to visit the remains of their old villages.」
半世紀ほど前に追い出された人々をも乗せ、故郷の村々の様子を見せてあげよう―というなかなかのイベント。これは本邦においても北方領土の問題があり、なかなかひとごとではない。
…どうも最近はロシアがやらかし気味であることがあってか、米国の地位ある向きが北方領土問題に言及したとも仄聞する。もはや70年前のことであり、故郷の記憶もなにも―というのが現実だろうけど、艦これ的には樺太の鈴谷川の復帰を期待したいかなあとか。
