廃ゴルフコースを自然公園に作り替え

　要はこの記事タイトルに尽きている。
　世界中にゴルフコースが乱立し、ちょっとした国の面積程度はゴルフコースになっちゃってた。ところが流行は過ぎ去るものでもあり、米国では2005年時のゴルフコースの面積の12％ほどが、2021年までには廃用となって―。

　そりゃあ自然公園にでもしちゃえば、このご時世だ、だいぶ好まれ、有用なものになるだろうと、そういう記事。すごい長文。

　記事の説き起こしはスコットランドのとある元ゴルフコースから。

「Huge swathes of land are used for golf. According to one recent study, many countries across the world, including the UK and the US, use far more land for golf courses than they do for wind or solar energy. 」

　米国じゃヴァーモント州の1/3ほどのサイズがゴルフコースだったんだぞ！と。そりゃ凄い。

「The US has the most courses of any country by far: its 16,300 golf courses occupy an estimated 8,000 sq km (2 million acres), an area around a third of the size of Vermont.」

　さすがに土地利用の方法としてどうだろう―というので、フランスでは2022年、渇水で水の供給絞ってるときにゴルフコースの水やりはOKとかおかしいだろ！とゴルフコースのホールをコンクリで埋めるデモがあったという。そりゃそうもしたくなるだろう。

「In 2022, climate activists in France filled golf course holes with cement to protest an exemption from water bans amidst a severe drought.」

　絶対ゴルフ廃棄主義者なんてのも近年ではネットで著名になっていたりするそうな。しかしそこまでの敵対心までもたんでええやろ、とは思われる。

「In fact, snapping up golf course land for rewilding in the US makes a lot of sense, because the land covered by golf courses has been decreasing for decades, falling by 12% between 2005 and 2021. 」

　何にせよ、自然な流水を再導入して魚やなにやらを育ててもよし。ピートに水を戻してCO2の貯蔵庫として存在を売り出してもよし。鳥も獣も戻ってくるし、植物も復活するだろう―。

　―湿地帯の再生ですな。私もできればしたいものだが、宝くじでもあたらんことには何もできない。
