I sometimes see the scenery like this these days while I'm taking a walk.
Farmers are drying Japanese radishes to make pickles.
After they are dried, they put them into a big pickle tab with salt, rice bran, seeds of gardenia and so on.
We call this yellow pickled radish Ta-ku-a-n.
They are good eaten with rice.
Japanese people love this pickled radish very much.
By the way, I don't make the pickled radish .
I learned Takuan zuke was first made by a priest named Takuan.
It's an interesting story !
First of all, I studied why we call a radish Suzusiro(清白)in Japanese,an another name of radish.
The second,I could know how long Takuann(沢庵),famous priest, lived. Takuann zuke(沢庵漬)in Japanese,is named after his name Takuann/
