Soba noodle at Jihei soba in Nishi-ward

I checked "Gatako's blog" which is full of information about Niigata.
My husband likes soba noodle, so we often go to soba restaurants.
This time, we chose Jihei soba located near Sagata lagoon.
Around 12:50, still there were so many people waiting in the restaurant.
Maybe we'd been waiting for 30 mins, but soba and soba soup were so delicious!
Soy sauce taste was strong, but I'd rather like rich taste.
We both ordered "Kamo namban tsukesoba hot" dipping cold soba in hot sauce which contains duck and Japanese leek. My husband enjoyed trying 5 kinds of Japanese spices, such as yuzukosyo shichimi...

Tonkatsu Masachan - Tonkatsu restaurant

Today I went to a tonkatsu restaurant called "Tonkatsu masa chan".
Masa chan is the most famous restaurant of tarekatsu don in Niigata.
There are 8 branches. I finally went to the main restaurant.



I ordered simply "nami(normal size)" tarekatsu don. It cost 970 yen(+tax).


My husband ordered "Niigata Zanmai(tarekatsu don + 3 kinds of local food of Niigata). It cost 1570 yen(+tax). You can eat miso soup as much as you like.



Normally "Katsudon" is that breaded deep fried pork covered with cooked egg and leak on the rice. But in Niigata, breaded deep fried pork is dipped in sauce of soy sauce and sugar, and is put on the rice. It is called "Tarekasu Don".

I often eat tarekatsu don at various places, but this headquarter is the most famous and popular.

Otoya ー Japanese Restaurant

Otoya is my favorite restaurant in Niigata. Always I'm satisfied with meals there.

I had "Deep fried chicken and vegetable with black vinegar sauce. I always order this combo. It comes with miso soup, salad, and rice.
About 800yen. You can order large size rice and choose 5 grains rice for free.

Actually, when I had the same combo in Tokyo branch, the rice wasn't good. Niigata branch serves the best rice.

Bikkuri Donkey - hamburg steak restaurant

Yesterday I went to "Bikkuri Donkey" . It is one of the most famous hamburg steak restaurant in Japan. I like Korean spicy dish. It costs about 800 yen. It has a lot of vegetable and hamburg with Korean spicy sauce, eat them mixed with spoon. Yummy!

And a dessert is so cheap. This coffee parfait costs only 398yen. This smaller sized parfait on the left costs only 298yen. You should try one!

Kihei - Manju shop

Yesterday I went to "Kihei" which is a famous mochi-shop. There are always so many people. I ate snow cone flavored green tea. Do you think that there aren't so much difference between snow cones? But I would say YES!! It was much more tasty than I expected.

Kihei is famous for snow cones, but also manju and cream puff. Yummy!!
