Japanese traditional performing arts (though it's not limited to Japan) are based on the harsh working conditions of the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries. While there are soothing Japanese dishes and hot springs, many festivals culminate with performances that show off physical strength, such as pulling giant floats, carrying heavy mikoshis, or jumping half-naked into cold water.
Will the festival continue in the same way? While safety is ensured to the utmost, in some cases, the tension that may result in injuries or casualties makes the festival exciting?
From now on, the male-dominated aspects that tradition relies on will need to change into something that can be enjoyed by sexual minorities such as LGBTQ+, and disabled minorities such as physically disabled and intellectually disabled people.
Club culture is particularly familiar with sexual minorities. When local people encounter club culture, they are inspired by minority culture and have the opportunity to change traditional culture into a form that better matches diversity.
