Girl group TWICE ranked 8th and 9th in the singles chart in Japan's Oricon's first half of the year. They are the only Korean and foreign artists to make it into the top 10 of the singles chart.

On the 25th, Oricon announced its first half of 2018 rankings for each category, compiled from December 25th last year to June 18th this month. According to this, TWICE's second single "Candy Pop" released in February and third single "Wake Me Up" released in May ranked 8th and 9th in the singles chart, earning 340,224 points and 340,207 points, respectively.

In this ranking, TWICE is the only Korean and foreign artist to make it into the top 10, and they are also the only artists to have two songs in the top 10, along with Japan's representative girl group AKB48.

TWICE received three consecutive platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan for their debut best album "#TWICE" in June last year, their first single "One More Time" in October, and their second single "Candy Pop" in February this year.

Their third single "Wake Me Up" became the first single by a foreign female artist to be certified double platinum, and they continue to enjoy great popularity.

Meanwhile, TWICE will make their comeback in Korea on July 9th at 6pm with the release of "Dance The Night Away." They will also team up with JYP Park Jin Young to release their first full album in Japan on September 12th.

TWICE is about to enter their third year in Japan.

KARA and Girls' Generation had a brilliant career for two full years after arriving in Japan.

After that, their popularity gradually faded, but TWICE shows no signs of fading.

Since they have been popular for a long time, and it is a floating business where "songs change with the times and the times change with the songs," some fans are beginning to worry about this.

The difference between singers from overseas and Japanese singers is that singers from overseas have a time to cut themselves off. Even if they become popular for a short time, once that popularity fades, they are written off and can no longer perform under their name.

This is why KARA and Girls' Generation, who were so popular, have been almost forgotten in Japan. It's not that there is no demand, it's just that the barrier to entry has become high.

TWICE is about to enter their third year in Japan and is still very popular, so their activities will likely remain stable for the time being.

I'm sure talk of dome concerts will become more concrete soon, but I think it would be better for them to continue performing at arena-class venues for a while without pushing themselves too hard.

When you reach the top of a mountain, you feel a great sense of accomplishment at that moment. This is especially true if it's Mount Fuji.

What about TWICE? They must be aware that it took a lot of effort and passion to get to this point.

Looking down, they realize they have climbed such a high mountain.

Of course, this is only possible thanks to their fan base at the peak of their power, but even those fans have time and lives for themselves. Some fans may even change the quality of their support after such a big event, and some may even graduate.

When it comes to a popular girl group like TWICE, there is a strong impression that they are able to keep their long-time fans while continuing to attract fans from the younger generation.

It seems like they would easily be able to hold a dome concert.

I personally feel like I would like to enjoy arena-class concerts for a while.
