BLACKPINK and TWICE's Unfulfilled Dreams

BLACKPINK and TWICE's Unfulfilled Dreams
  BLACKPINKとTWICEの見果てぬ夢

The music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU," the title track of their first mini-album "SQUARE UP," released in June this year, has surpassed 300 million views in just 68 days since its release.

BLACKPINK has opened the door to a world that many music fans are waiting for.

Beyond the open door, voices of joy are overflowing.

As one dream comes true, you can feel the next dream sprouting from within.

The ocean feels even more expansive, but what kind of dream is swelling in the members' hearts next?

The view has widened, but the groups that were competing to get ahead have disappeared from the surroundings.

The TWICE boat, which was always beside or in front of them, has also disappeared without a trace.

Where on earth did it disappear to?

Many girls have simply fallen far behind, but that is not the case with TWICE.

It is just a matter of their paths diverging.

In broad daylight, with only the sun in the sky, a faint, phantom shadow moves alongside the BLACKPINK ship, which is moving forward in isolation. It is an afterimage of Girls' Generation's past.

A generation ago (six or seven years ago), Girls' Generation, based in Korea and Japan, dreamed of traveling from America to the world.

Not only did they dream, they also took on the challenge.

The funds for the challenge were funded by a certain percentage of the profits made in Korea and Japan, especially in Japan.

It was surely not a luxurious amount of money that could withstand a major failure.

So how did that challenge end?

Should we consider it over after all the funds prepared for Girls' Generation were used up?

Girls' Generation's dreams were cut short before they knew it.
The dream took shape and was realized, but Europe and the United States were still far away.

However, appearing on television in America and France did increase the profile of both Girls' Generation and K-Pop a little.

It certainly opened up the door to further afield, making it easier for newer groups to go global.

In reality, although BLACKPINK has become incredibly popular, they have not yet begun their activities to go global.

The path to the world has been widened through the power of YouTube and other social media, but BLACKPINK itself is still only at the start of its journey to the world.

There are two ships in the port, carrying the dream of K-Pop on their long-distance voyage.

One is the Wonder Girls' ship, with a torn sail and damaged.
The other is Girls' Generation's ship, its tips still strong and undiscolored, waving in the strong winds.

Wonder Girls put their heart and soul into their activities there, facing the American dream.

Although Girls' Generation went to the US, they were unable to carry out sufficient activities due to their busy schedule.

The American Dream remains unfinished.

It may be said that the day when BLACKPINK will set sail on the American Dream is steadily approaching.

To get there, it is a quick flight on a passenger plane to Europe and America, but to enter Europe and America with K-POP is like a long-distance voyage on a ship. There is a lot of attention on BLACKPINK.

It seems that TWICE has set their sights on Japan in order to inherit KARA's former glory. In that case, there is no need to compete with BLACKPINK on the open sea.

BLACKPINK and TWICE will inherit the unfulfilled dream that Girls' Generation and KARA left behind, and I hope they will burn it out on the stage.
