"Roy Orbison was the named headliner for The Beatles' third national tour, which began on 18 May. However, by the time they arrived in Cardiff, The Beatles' popularity meant they were promoted to top billing.
The Beatles performed at the Capitol Cinema, where they returned on two other occasions. Also on the bill, in order of appearance, were the Terry Young Six, Ian Crawford, Louise Cordet, David Macbeth, Gerry and the Pacemakers, comedian Erkey Grant, and Roy Orbison.
The Beatles performed seven songs: Some Other Guy, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Love Me Do, From Me To You, Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There and Twist And Shout. They were paid ￡100 for the appearance.
Before the show began the group was visited by Dave Edmunds, who at the time was working in a Cardiff music shop. He was sent to the venue by his manager, with the orders to try and sell The Beatles anything they might need for the show.
"They were setting up, going for a sound check in the afternoon and we rolled in," Edmunds explained in the 2001 BBC Radio Wales programme The Dragon's Breath. "There was no security in those days. I stayed for the whole day.
"In the evening, I was just standing on the side of the stage watching The Beatles do their first tour. We were too nervous to charge them so we just gave them everything, all the sticks and strings. I gave Paul McCartney a set of bass strings.""

"I was a teenager in Cardiff in the sixties. It is impossible to exaggerate the impact of the Beatles on our attitudes, cultural experience, hairstyles and on our burgeoning hormones! I went to see them in concert with Gerry and the Pacemakers and Roy Orbison and others I can't remember (but what a line-up!) at the Capitol Cinema on 27th May 1963, as a 15th birthday treat. My first live concert, it was exciting beyond my imagination. I was sitting in the fourth row from the front and couldn't hear much because of the screaming girls. Being a rather serious bloke, I thought they were very silly indeed and couldn't think why they had paid 7/6d (37? pence - a fortune) and not hear the music! However, the odd snatches of music I caught were very exciting. I can remember what I wore (my grey school trousers, my check tweed sports jacket - which was like Heinz sandwich spread!- and a rather non-matching red and green 'slim jim' tie, with very slightly pointed black shoes - a ghastly ensemble but I thought I was so cool!) but I cannot remember if I went with a group of male schoolfriends or with my girlfriend. I can remember a girl I knew, Wendy, running to the stage to throw her panties at Paul McCartney, but cannot remember what the weather was like! (probably a fine evening). I went home on the bus, my ears still buzzing with the screaming and the music, feeling a sense of excitement which took a few days to subside, and which was a talking point for many years - even now occasionally! Magic!

"A campaign has been launched to mount a memorial to The Beatles at one of the small town venues they played in Wales. An application has been made to put a plaque on the wall of a bank in Mold.
The band performed at what was then the assembly hall when they were starting to make it big in January 1963 - honouring a booking for just ￡50.
Supporters say there are only two places in north Wales left where the band played and this would be a way of putting Mold on The Beatles' trail.
An application for the plaque on the Lloyds TSB bank was submitted to the conservation department of Flintshire Council on Friday and a decision is expected within three months.
Music journalist Elly Roberts and Beatles author and historian Ray O'Brien both handed in the proposal.
Mr Roberts said he wanted the plaque to be a "lasting honour" to the Liverpool band who honoured the booking at the Mold assembly hall on 24 January 1963.
"They were booked in the October or November of 1962 for just ￡50 by the old Mold urban district council," said Mr Roberts.
"Shortly after that the band went to Hamburg and they released Love Me Do and Please Please Me and were really beginning to make it big,"
"From what I understand they were then charging ￡700 a show and were reluctant to honour the Mold commitment, but their manager Brian Epstein insisted they did," added Mr Roberts, who is writing a book about the Beatles one gig in Mold.
As well as the Flintshire town, the band played a number of gigs in Wales during the sixties, including venues in Prestatyn, Rhyl and Llandudno and Abergavenny and Cardiff in the south.
But after the gig in Mold, George Harrison went off to see his aunt who lived in nearby Broughton and the other three Beatles ended up playing the piano into the night at a Holywell pub where the landlady served them sandwiches.
Mr Roberts said he has had strong support from the community in Mold for the plaque.
Ray O'Brien said the memorial would help put the town on the map for fans.
"Liverpool is only 45 minutes away from Mold and every autumn 500,000 people go there for the Beatles convention," he said.
"I arrange Beatles tours myself and I'm sure that some of those people who visit Liverpool could be persuaded to come to north Wales to see another item of memorabilia".
Mr Roberts said if they receive the go-ahead for the plaque a live music event would be arranged at the Y Pentan pub behind the old hall for its unveiling on 24 January next years, exactly 43 years since the Beatles were in Mold."

ジョニー･ジェントル (Johnny Gentle) とスコットランドを巡るシルバー･ビートルズ (The Silver Beetles) の7日間のツアーの6日目は、ネアン (Nairn) のレオポルド通り (Leopold Street) にあるリーガル･ボールルーム (Regal Ballroom) で開催された。この時点で彼らの所持金はほぼゼロだった。ジョニー･ジェントル (Johnny Gentle) がロンドンに居るツアー･プロモーターのラリー･パーンズ (Larry Parnes) に電話して送金の催促をしていると、怒り心頭のジョン･レノン (John Lennon) が横から受話器をつかみ取った。
ジョニー･ジェントル『John Lennon:The Life』フィリップ･ノーマン ⇒ 彼は遠慮なしだった。「こっちはこんな所で文無しなんだぞ！しょんべんする便器すら無いいんだ！金よこせ、ラリー！」こんな風だった。でもとにかくこれは効果があったらしく、アラン･ウィリアムズ (Allan Williams) が彼らに数ポンド送って来た。

1960(昭和3)年05月27日(金) ネアンシャー州ネアンのリーガル・ボールルームにてコンサート。これはシルヴァー・ビートルズがバックバンドとして同行したジョニー・ジェントルのスコットランド・ツアーの6日目。このツアーは屈辱的な内容で、ジョニー・ジェントル共々プライドを傷つける最低の扱いだった。
1961(昭和3)年05月27日(土) 2度の契約更新の後、2度目のハンブルグ巡業が4月1日より7月1日まで行われ、92日間、のべ503時間トップ・テン・クラブのステージに立つ。前回の最初のハンブルグ巡業と並んで、ビートルズのスタミナと実力を飛躍的に向上させた有意義な巡業となった。
1962(昭和3)年05月27日(日) 3度目のハンブルグ巡業。出演場所はオープンしたばかりのロック専門「スター・クラブ」。1時間演奏して1時間休憩というローテーションで3～4時間演奏した。今回は7週間の巡業で、そのうち2週間はジーン・ビンセントが競演した。

2000年5月24日、突然Walters Recordsなる怪しげなレーベルから公式盤として「ハンブルクもの」のアルバムが登場。おそらく、例の訴訟の結果を無視して発表されたものと思われ、今後、また訴訟などに発展しそうな気配。また、24曲しか収録されておらず、私に言わせればここにご紹介した「完全盤」に勝る内容とは思えない。よって、まだ私は「中古盤店を回って完全盤を探した方がいいよ」と言いたいところだけど、「ハンブルクものは一切持ってない」という方は「回収」になる前に購入しておいた方がよいかも、という気もしないでもない。いずれにしても、今後の動向に注目したいところ。

ディスク2には1966年のインターテルが収録されている。「PAPERBACK WRITER」「RAIN」の2曲のプロモーション・フィルムを撮影するために行なわれたフィルミング・セッションにおいて、複数テイク撮影されたものを含め、それらすべてを収録。画質においても従来の常識を覆す最高の画質となっている。この2曲にはスタジオで収録したものと、公園で収録したものの2バージョンが知られているが、それぞれ複数テイクがとられており、すべてのテイクを収録しているのはもちろん、それぞれのテイクの違いを一目でわかるようにマルチアングルでの収録など、DVDの機能をフルに使って楽しめる1枚となっている。ボーナス映像として、
◆1966(昭和41)年5月27日(金)に撮影された、ボブ・ディランとジョンレノンが車に同乗してハイドパーク周辺を度ライヴしている時の映像を収録。紫煙くゆらせながら、二人が何やら冗談を交え会話している様子が捉えられている。美しいピクチャーディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤。
