The woman and twelve-year-old child were not noticed during the final round of inspection and so, without a way to communicate with anyone on the ground, they spent the night on the tower until 10 am the following morning. They did not appear too concerned by the ordeal and left without giving their names to officials.[26]

③1962(昭和37)年09月07日(金) ライヴ演奏：ビレッジ･ホール／アービー
ビートルズはウィラル・ヘスウォール・アービー (Irby, Heswall, Wirral) のシングウォール (Thingwall) 15番にあるビレッジ･ホール (Village Hall) に1度だけ出演している。この会場はその当時、メアリー･ニュートン (Mary Newton) が経営するニュートン･ダンシング･スクール (Newton Dancing School) のメイン会場であったが、彼女は月に1回、14歳から18歳の生徒を対象としてダンスパーティーも開催していた。入場チケットは7シリングであったが、主催者はブライアン･エプスタイン (Brian Epstein) とあらかじめ妥結していたビートルズの出演報酬の35ポンドを集められず、20ポンドしか受領できなかった。そこで不足の金額を賄うため、このホールの向かいにあるローン･ボーリング用の広場でがらくた市が開催された。エプスタインは自分のロールス･ロイスでここに集金しに戻っている。ビートルズの出演終了後、ジョージはギターの弦を入れていた厚紙製のスーツケースを置き忘れていった。そのケースは圧縮厚紙製でプラスチックの縁取りがあり、サイドにはジョージ･ハリスンのイニシャルが書かれ、また小さな文字で「Mr. George Harrison c/o Beatles Party」とも書かれていた。そのスーツケースは地元のザ･スペイズ (The Spades) というバンドのドラマーのデイヴ･アーラム (Dave Irlam) が持ち帰った。メアリー･ニュートンにビートルズを推薦したのは彼であった。デイヴの父のアーニーはエプスタインが残金の集金に来た時にそのことを伝えると、エプスタインは誰か他の者を取りによこすと告げた。しかし誰も取りに来なかったし、中は空だったので屋根裏に片付けられた。そして再発見されるまで40年間そのままになっていた。
アーニー･アーラム ⇒ 彼らは新しい機材を持ってここに来た。すばらしい物だった。しかし中には古いがらくたもあった。ひとつの時代の終りだった。我々は彼らに支払う金を全額集めることができなかったので、数日後にエプスタインが残金を受け取りに私たちの家に立ち寄った。彼はとても怒っていた。私が彼に古いスーツケースを忘れないように言うと、彼は他の者をよこすと言った。しかし誰も来なかった。およそ15年後に私が屋根裏でそれを見つけると、あれはビートルズが置いてったケースだとデイヴは言う。今や有名となった彼らにはあんなケース要らないだろう。その夜、レノンは私の息子に「照明やる?」と言った。彼が「やる」と言うと、レノンは言った「僕らがBlue Moonを演奏するとき、あの青いライトを点けてくれ。できるか? OK｡」
そのスーツケースはロンドンのボーナム (Bonhams) でのオークションでは、2,500ポンドの最低競売価格に届かなかった。しかし2004年に匿名のバイヤーが5,500ポンドで買っている。それは現在ワラジー (Wallasey) のニュー･ブライトン (New Brighton) にあるマージービート博物館 (Merseybeat Museum) に展示されている。このアービーのビレッジ･ホールでの出来事は後に、ウィラルの劇作家ベヴ･クラーク (Bev Clark) とマイク･ロックリー (Mike Lockley) を触発して『ジョージ・ハリスンのスーツケース (The George Harrison Suitcase)』という劇になった。メアリー･ニュートンはこの日のショーのチケットと、エプスタインのブッキング確認の手紙を引出しにしまって置いたが、それらは2004年のクリスティーズ (Christie's) のオークションで、2つ合わせてやはり5,500ボンドで外国の匿名のバイヤーが買っている。
メアリー･ニュートン ⇒ あの夜は私がボスだった。ビートルズはバンドの１つでしかなかったけど、彼らはいいグループだった。観客はみんな彼らを応援していた。彼らは『Love Me Do』とか初期のものを演奏した。最近私が引っ越す時にそれらは出てきた。何冊かの本を取り出していると、何かが落ちて「床に落ちてるアレは何?」

"You were no one unless you danced to the Beatles. Before they filled theatres with seats, Beatlemania filled dance halls. I saw them in Buxton. I handed in all my savings of ￡5 in exchange for an autograph of Paul McCartney - a girl lost an eye in the scrum, a terrible tragedy, but I shall never forget when those curtains opened. The atmosphere was utterly electric, the sound different. Every boy there wanted to be and sing like a Beatle. Every girl wanted to be a Beatle's girl.
It sounds trite but those who did not experience dancing with the Beatles live can never possibly understand why everyone else - Michael Jackson, the Spice Girls, Madonna, Oasis - are also-rans.

"The Pops and Lenny show was the Beatles' second national TV appearance, where they sang Please Please Me alongside a ventriloquist puppet called Lenny the Lion. A friend of mine had written to get tickets and we were lucky. I was 14 and we both went in our school uniforms.
When the performance finished we walked down the side of the theatre, and found the door open. So we went in - and straight afterwards security locked the door. The Beatles were waiting to make their getaway, but couldn't get out until the van came round. A lot of girls were banging on the doors, but we were inside - and for an hour so were the Beatles.
They were so friendly and nice, and once they knew we weren't hysterical they were happy to have us. I don't think Beatlemania took off until a year later. In some ways, it was a little bit of history lost for ever. They were very ordinary guys, very friendly. Cynthia Lennon was there, standing in the background with a cape on. John kept saying to her "Did you get that?" Nobody realised he was married - he was pretending she was a reporter. You can imagine what it was like the next day in school. My friends were incredibly jealous.

Opening night of a three-week tour with Roy Orbison. At some point on the tour, Orbison graciously stepped aside and let the Beatles close the show as headliners.
Roy Orbison recalled: "Brian [Epstein] said, 'Who should close the show?', and John said, 'You're getting all the money, so why don't we close it?' I don't know whether that was true or not, whether I was getting that much more than they were. I certainly wasn't getting that much - and the tour had sold out in one afternoon."

"When I booked tickets for the Beatles/Roy Orbison tour in early 1963, I really wanted to see the Big O, who was then the headliner over the Merseyside upstarts. By the time they reached Sheffield, the Fab Four were top of the bill, although I remained to be convinced that they deserved it. I remember the great Roy Orbison, alone on the stage, dressed all in black, winning over the audience, but nothing prepared me for the uproar when the Beatles appeared. I spent most of the set watching the people around me in disbelief. I wrote in my diary "like a Roman orgy with screaming twisting girls" . . . but I was convinced: they were magic.

No.1 アビイ・ロード第2スタジオにて録音開始。このレコーディングの数日前、1967年8月27日にデビュー以来のマネージャーであった、ブライアン・エプスタインが死亡している。ビートルズは「船頭」と呼べる唯一の人を失いながらも、まずこのテレビ映画のプロジェクトを完成させるべく動き始めたのである。この日は第1テイクを録音したあとにリダクションミックスを行い、第2テイクを作成。その後にジョージのヴォーカル、ジョンとポールのコーラスを録音して再度リダクションして第3テイクを作成。オルガンにはレズリー効果を使い、ボーカルにはかなりきつめのADT処理が行われている。

‡1969(昭和44)年9月7日(日)まで続いた。ビートルズの広報担当だったトニー・バーローは、「ツアーとツアーの間もレコードの売り上げはあまり落ち込まなかったのはテレビアニメのおかげだ」と番組の効果を評価する。陽気で屈託のない「モップ頭の4人」は、物憂げな表情の大人へと脱皮していくのだが、アニメは初期の4人のイメージを維持する役割を果たした。このため、ティーンエージャー向けの市場で人気を長続きさせることができた、というのだ。ところで、この番組はビートルズが正式に解散する74年まで、英国で放送するのは不可能だった。ビートルズがアニメの出来上がりに不満だったため、契約の際、英国では放映しないという条項をわざわざ入れたからだ。彼らが特に嫌がっていたのは吹き替えの声だったという。ポールとリンゴの声は、英国の性格俳優でコメディアンのランス・パーシバルが、ジョンとジョージの声は米国の声優ポール・フリーズが、それぞれ吹き替えた。その声が自分たちに似ていなかったことが、ビートルズには不満だったようだ。成功を遂げてからも彼らは、故郷のリバプール訛りを隠すようなことはしなかった。だが、アニメの吹き替えの声は典型的なイギリス英語ともアメリカ英語ともいえないアクセントになっていた。本人たちが吹き替えを担当すればいいのだろうが、4人を録音スタジオに連れてくるのはスケジュール的に不可能だった。さらに、米国人にはイギリス英語はわかりにくいと判断され、「英国の方言」は「すべての米国国民に受け入れられる作品」には不適当となったからだ。解散後、ニューヨークに移り住んだジョンがこの番組の再放送を楽しんでいたという話が伝わる。「ビートルズも悪くないな」ショーンの子守をしながらブラウン管の方をみやったジョンが、その瞬間、我が青春を思い出し、懐かさがこみ上げたのだろうか。
