There are a great number of ancient tombs at the foot of Mt. Kōmyōzan (光明山) in Yabu City (養父市).
The day before I climbed Mt. Kōmyōzan, I went to the Oyabu area (大藪地域) for the first time to explore the route, and I was surprised to see the great numbers of the burial mounds.
And Mr. Takebe wrote about it on his blog.
As I searched for information on burial mounds by the internet, I found uncountable numbers of the largest sized burial mounds in the Oyabu area of Tajima (但馬), and I looked at the places where they were built...!
basically, they are built in a place where you can see Mt. Kōmyōzan, , and each one of the burial mounds seems to be built with the orientation (entrance) towards Mt. Kōmyōzan.
This tells us that there is an underground temple of Empress Kōmyō (光明皇后) at the summit of Mt. Kōmyōzan.
