ＰｗＣ、ペトロブラス社不正関連の訴訟で５０百万ドルの和解金支払い（economiaより）

PwC pays $50m to settle Petrobras class action

PwCブラジル事務所が、ペトロブラス社の汚職事件に関連して、年金ファンド会社USSに、50百万ドルの和解金を支払うことで合意したという記事。

PwC Brazil has agreed to pay $50m (£35.8m) to the pension fund company USS in relation to the Petrobras corruption case

PwCはペトロブラスの監査人でした。PwCとの和解を含め、集団訴訟全体では30億ドルの金額になります。

The settlement between USS and the Big Four firm’s Brazilian arm, which was Petrobras’s auditor, follows last month’s settlement with the oil company for $2.95bn (£2.1bn).

Together with PwC’s settlement, the class action as a whole is valued at $3bn (£2.15bn).

USS側は、米国における国外発行者が関わった和解で、過去最大のものだといっています。

USS, which provides pensions for universities and higher education institutions in the UK, said this was the largest securities class action settlement in a decade as well as the largest settlement in the United States involving a foreign issuer.

PwC側のコメント。責任は否定していますが、この長引いている法律問題と決別するためには、和解が最善の方法だったといっています。

“PwC has denied any wrongdoing or liability in the settlement. We were keen to put this protracted legal matter behind us, and a settlement was the best way to achieve this,” the spokesperson added.

米国上場会社でこういう不正があれば、監査人もこのぐらいの賠償金は覚悟しなければならないということでしょう。
