英会計士団体ICAEWの新プレジデントはヒラリー（economiaより）

Hilary Lindsay is new president of ICAEW

英国のイングランド・ウェールズ勅許会計士協会の新プレジデント、Hilary Lindsay氏が就任後初のスピーチを行ったという記事。

会計士は過去からの遺産を誇りに思うべきだけれども、テクノロジーによって取って代わられるコンプライアンス関連業務（税務業務などのことでしょうか）が増えているなどのトレンドに適応しなければならないというようなことを述べています。

Speaking at the president’s lunch at Chartered Accountants’ Hall, Lindsay said that though accountants should be proud of their heritage, they must respond to the growing trends in the sector, including an increase in compliance work being taken on by technology.

She said, “We need to adapt, to find new and different ways of adding value. By doing this individually and collectively, we can help shape the future of ICAEW and add to our heritage.”

どういう組織構造なのかはよくわかりませんが、プレジデントは1年ごとに交代するようです。前任者はPwCの監査パートナー、後任は新しい副プレジデントが就任予定です。Hilary Lindsay氏は、2人目の女性プレジデントだそうです。

Future ICAEW president elected（economia）

Lindsay started her accountancy career with a four-partner firm in the north west of England before being recruited by ICAEW as a practice advisor. She later joined the Accountancy Business Group, ICAEW’s commercial arm, as finance director before moving to become head of district societies and member services. She finally left the institute in 1999 to work for the Open University where she lectures at the business school on its finance and MBA programmes.

4人しかパートナーがいない事務所でキャリアをスタートさせ、その後ICAEWの関連組織で働いていたようです。1999年に退職したあとは、英国のThe Open Universityで講師を務めています。
