それではせっかくなのでJapan Timesのインタビューを読んでみることにします。まぁ普通に読んでも
あれなので、精読に挑戦してみます。

その1:
Generation eight of the group, with nine members, is the longest-running
incarnation so far
"incarnation"とは「生まれ変わり」というやや宗教的な言葉ですが、メンバーの交代を生まれ変わりと
表現するのか・・・なるほどね。
その2:
under the tutelage of・・・
"tutelage"とは「保護、監督」という意味。あえてこういう単語を使うところがJTらしいです。
6段落目に出る次の表現もそうです。
その3:
One might think the members of this chart-happy Japanese institution would be
run off their feet, but they show no signs of it.
"run off their feet"とは？この後にがきさんは「冬、夏、正月に休みをもらっている」と
話しているところから（っていうより「冬休み」と「正月休み」は何が違うんだ？）、
「忙しい」という意味です。ふつうならばこんな慣用表現を使わなくてもいいのでしょうが、
このあたりは英文記事を教材としても使ってもらいたいと考えるJTらしいところです。
次くらいから突っ込みどころですｗ

"Recently, the songs Mr. Tsunku gives us are kind of mature and lonesome," says Niigaki.
Asked how they may differ if they were in control, Niigaki replies:
"If I could write a song, I'd like to write a little funny and jolly tune!"
"(I'd do) something cool. A danceable tune!" says Takahashi. "Like Destiny's Child."
がきさんと愛ちゃんの意見がくっきり分かれた瞬間です。がきさんはもっと明るくて楽しめる歌が
いいと話し、愛ちゃんはデスチャのようなダンサブルな歌をやりたいらしいです。でも根底には
最近の娘。の歌が"mature and lonesome"なものだっていうことに対して、あまりいいとは必ずしも
思っていないようです。がきさんが歌いたいジャンルっていうのは、れいなちゃんが5つ星でこんなのを
歌いたいって話していたのと同じですね。

"very crazy song"がいいらしいですが、正確には何て話したんだろう？

Morning Musume have recently been on a slow decline in terms of sales,
and the group's revolving-door regeneration has had the negative effect that
few consumers today recognize individual members. However, the girls' different
personalities are highly apparent, and it's clear the management is keen to
cultivate their individual abilities to reverse the slide.
"Each one should be recognized as being in Morning Musume in her prime," says Nishikata.
"It used be like that. Morning Musume were well known, but also (original member)
Natsumi Abe was well known (in her own right). But nobody knows who is in
Morning Musume anymore."
このあたりは娘。の現状です。そこら辺の夕刊紙じゃなくて、それなりの新聞において、改めて記事として
書かれてると、あぁそうなんだなと思ってしまいます。おまけに事務所の人間までもがはっきりと
「だれも今娘。に誰がいるのか知らない」とか答えているしｗただ「個性の違いはかなり際立っているから、
経営陣はそれを生かしていくつもりだ」ってホントかなぁ？

"I can't think of my graduation at all," says an animated Niigaki,
「卒業について考えることなんてできない！」って、この間の「よろセン！」の手紙じゃないけど、
がきさんはホントに30歳になっても娘。にいそうな予感がします。逆にがきさんが卒業するときって
どういうきっかけなんだろう？

"We have promoted them as a group so far, but from now on, we'd like to
promote them one by one, so I hope they can do more personal work
after this summer."
「これまでは(so far)グループとして売ってきたけど、これからは(from now on)個々で売っていく、
夏からはもっと個人の仕事が増えればいいと思っています」っていう趣旨のことです。果たして、
そううまくいくのかな？れいなちゃんが吉祥寺へ遊びに行ったり映画を見まくる時間も減るのでしょうか？

昔はファンの裾野が広かったけど、今はヲタばかりで、横アリでも女の子のファンは「献身的かつ熱狂的な
中年男性の中にポツポツといるだけ」なのが人気低下の理由なんだそうですｗそして・・・

Rika Ishikawa exclaiming: "Look at them. Grownups screaming like that! I can't
believe it. So stupid!" Although such a scandal is rare in the micromanaged Musume life,
standing in front of such frenzied supporters clearly affects the girls.
例の「大の大人が」事件についてです。これ、事務所としては書かせてもよかったんでしょうかね？
そして「熱狂的なサポーター」（frenzied supporters）の前に立つことが彼女たちにとって明らかに
影響を与えている、のだそうで、記事の続き。

ファンは自分たちの超細かいことまで知っているって話すがきさんって、ホントにファンを

入り込めないっていう意見があるけど、がきさんのこういう発言もそれを助長（語弊があるかも
知れないけど)しているように感じますね。次が最後の突っ込みかな？

これは"except Reina Tanaka"じゃないですか？ｗ
あとの細かいところはみなさんで読んでください。何かふつうのインタビューとはぜんぜん違って、
かなり率直なことが書かれているように思います。これ、アルバム発売を前にして宣伝になったのかな？
でも宣伝用のインタビューなんかよりもずっとおもしろかったというのが率直な感想です。
