若きトライアスリートの死

　　トライアスロンを通じて知り合った故SIMONさん


NZのオリンピック候補選手だった彼が広島に来たのは

今から5年前のことです。


広島の英会話教室の講師をしながら

トライアスロンの練習に励んでいた彼は21歳でした。


広島の友人も沢山できて

これから日本のレースを楽しもうとしていた時に

不運にも病が彼を襲いました。


22歳という若さで

突然、私たちの前から姿を消した彼を訪ねて


広島のNZ友好協会の友人25名が

2007年9月にPamerston　Northにある

彼のお墓参りに行きました。



彼の功績を称え

Pamerston NorthのIPCキャンパスに市長さんが出席され


広島県三原市のさぎしまトライアスロン大会開催地

鷺島においては駐日ニュージーランド大使を迎え

記念植樹をしています。

Palmerston Northから桜の便り

It is Sakura festival at IPC today so I took the photographs I have

attached of the IPC grounds and Simons trees.

They are growing very well and look really good.

It is now getting a bit warmer over here after a cold winter.

since you were all here.
