まっていたお知らせが来ました♪

月末よりインドへ、
そしてアーメダバードにあるダルパナアカデミーの
ナタラニの舞台で開催される舞踊祭で踊ります。

上がって来たスケジュールでは総勢21名の舞踊家がソロ公演を上演!
流石にバラタナティヤムの学校だけあって南インドの演目が多い気がしますが
南はバラタナティヤム,カタカリ,クチプディ、モヒニヤッタム,
東はマニプリ,オディッシー、そして北はカタック。

ちょっぴりだけ現実味が帯びて来た?!

CELEBRATING THE WORLD OF DANCE
IN ASSOCIATION WITH WEST ZONE CULTURAL CENTRE

HITHAISHY DHANAN, KUCHIPUDI, BANGALORE
Hithaishy Dhanan , learned under the guidance of Smt. Choodamani
Rao and Smt. Radha Sridhar (Bharata Natyam), Smt.Vyjayanthi Kashi and
Kalaimamani Uma Muralikrishna (Kuchupudi) and Smt. Gopika Verma
(Abhinaya). She is a gold medalist for her outstanding performance in
the Master of Performing Arts from Bangalore University. She has performed in various
prestigious festivals. She is a versatile artist. Her talent is not limited to just dance but
also engulfs acting and theatre.

RACHANA PARULKAR, KATHAK, MUMBAI
A senior disciple of Smt. Uma Dogra, Rachana is learning Kathak since last 11
years. Rachana’s dance shows a beautiful blend of delicacy of Lucknow and
vibrant energy of Jaipur Gharanas. Rachana has performed with her Guru
and also in many prestigious festivals in India like the Raindrops festival,
Konark festival, Pt. Durgalal festival, Kala Ghoda festival and for NCPA.

KRUPA RAVI, BHARATA NATYAM, AHMEDABAD
Krupa Ravi , a promising young Bharata Natyam dancer trained under the
guidance of Smt. Dolly Desai of Ahmedabad, Smt. Jayalakshmi Eshwar of
Delhi and Smt. Radhika Shurajit of Chennai. She has many solo performances
at various festivals in India and abroad to her credit. She is the recipient of
a scholarship from the Government of India, and Kal Ke Kalaakar 2011 from
Gujarat.

REVANTA SARABHAI, BHARATA NATYAM, AHMEDABAD
Revanta is an independent performer, choreographer, multimedia
designer and filmmaker. Having made his solo classical dance
debut at age 8, he has been performing professionally and touring
internationally with the Darpana Performing Group since 1999. Trained
in Bharata Natyam under Guru Smt. Maheshwari Nagarajan, Revanta
has perfected his style under the mentorship of his grandmother, legendary dancer
Mrinalini Sarabhai. In addition to his on-going Bharata Natyam training, Revanta
received training in a variety of folk, contemporary and martial art forms from India
and across the world. He started experimenting with choreography at age 14, and
has since developed his own contemporary vocabulary that has been showcased
in productions at several prestigious venues and festivals across Asia, Europe, and
North America. Revanta has recently graduated with an MA in Performance & Creative
Research at Roehampton University and currently lives and works between London
and Ahmedabad.

SPRUHA KAMDAR, ODISSI, MUMBAI
Spruha trained under Smt. Daksha Mashruwala, a senior disciple of late
Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. She performs at Kaishiki with Smt. Daksha
Mashruwala and has performed at various festivals like, Konark festival,
Mandu Utsav, Kala Ghoda festival and Shishir Sangeet Mahotsav.
KRISHNAKUMAR P.N., MOHINI ATTAM, KERALA
Krishnakumar , a disciple of Guru Smt. Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, trained
in Mohini Attam and has performed at the famous temples in Kerala. In
addition, he has been performing at various prestigious dance festivals in
India. Recipient of Nalanda Nritya Nipuna award in Mohini Attam, ICCR certificate for
solo Mohini Attam, he is also a B-Grade Mohini Attam artist of Doordarshan Kendra.

JIGNA DIXIT, KATHAK, AHMEDABAD
Jigna Dixit started learning under Dharamshibhai Shah at Bhavnagar and
continued training with the renowned Kathak duo Maulik and Ishira Parikh.
She is a promising dancer with powerful and graceful nritta and eloquent
abhinaya. She has performed at various festivals and is a recipient of
various government scholarships and winner of the Yuva Mahotsav and International
University Youth Festival.

CHAITALI SENGUPTA CHUGANI, BHARATA NATYAM, MUMBAI
Chaitali is currently the disciple of Shri Vaibhav Arekar of Sankhya Dance
Creation. She started her training in Bharata Natyam at the age of 5 from
Shri Dayanand Pillai and then joined Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya.
She is the recipient of the Nehru Center Scholarship and the Nageshwar
Rao Scholarship by Mumbai University. She has performed at various festivals and has
been part of productions of Nalanda and Sankhya Dance Creation.

SANCHITA BANERJEE, ODISSI, DELHI
Sanchita Banerjee was initiated into Odissi by Smt. Sharmila Biswas and
Smt. Alok Kanungo. She is the disciple of Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra
and is presently under the able guidance of Guru Shri Ratikanta
Mohapatra, Smt. Sujata Mohapatra and Smt. Ranjana Gauhar. She has
toured various parts of the world. She is the recipient of many awards and
Government fellowships.

ASHWINI NATGARHALLI, BHARATA NATYAM, AHMEDABAD
Ashwini is a disciple of Smt. Maheswari Nagarajan of Nritya Kala Kendra,
Ahmedabad, and is pursuing training in Kuchipudi from Smt. Vanita
Jayan. She has performed at various prestigious festivals in India. She has
also performed at Nagoya Cultural Festival in Japan. She is the recipient
of Kal Ke Kalakar for the year 2009 from Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Academy and also
Lila Mukut Nartan Viajayapadma for the year 2010.
MALABI CHOUDHURY, MANIPURI, KOLKATTA
Malabi Choudhury received training in Manipuri from Smt. Poushali
Chatterjee at Nandanik Manipuri Dance Academy and Guru Darshana
Jhaveri, Guru Kalavati Devi and Guru Ranjana Jhaveri. Performed at
various festivals in India and abroad. She is the recipient of awards like
Nritya Bhushan, Nrithya Jyoti, Nrithya Mani and also a scholarship from the Ministry of
Culture, Govt. of India.

SREELAKSHMY GOVARDHANAN, KUCHIPUDI, KERALASreelakshmy is the disciple of Smt. Vyjayanthi Kashi, Sri Vasudevan
Namboothiri and Smt. Manju Bhargavi. She has performed extensively at
various festivals all over India and abroad. She is the recipient of Singar
Mani, Nalanda Nritya Nipuna and the Kalathilakam .She has conducted Kuchupudi
workshops and has been part of many art promotion events.

ATSUKO MAEDA, KATHAK, AHMEDABADAtsuko is a Japanese national who has dedicated her life to the
Kathak. She trained under Yakshini Yazawa in Tokyo. She started
taking training in India under Pt. Arjun Mishra. She has also trained
under Smt. Kumudini Lakhia at Ahmedabad and has performed
extensively at various prestigious festivals in India and abroad.
DEEPA CHAKRABORTHY, MOHINI ATTAM, CHENNAIDeepa trained in Mohini Attam under renowned Guru Smt.
Gopika Varma at Dasyam – a center for Mohini Attam. She
has given various solo performances and has been part of
many productions under the guidance of her Guru. She has
participated in various prestigious festivals in India and abroad.
She is also trained in Bharata Natyam and has received many awards and scholarships.

VASANTH KIRAN, KUCHIPUDI, BANGALOREVasanth Kiran is trained in Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, folk and
contemporary dance from eminent gurus like Guru Bhanumathi,
Kalanidhi Narayan, Kalakshetra Sheejith Krishna, Guru Dr Vempatti
Chinna Satyam and Guru Manju Bhargavi. Vasanth is now guest
faculty in many universities. He is the recipient of national awards and
central and state government scholarships.

PAVITRA BHAT, BHARATA NATYAM , MUMBAIPavitra is the disciple of Guru Shri Deepak Mazumdar and Achaarya
Choodamani Smt. Anitha Guha,. He has performed solo Bharata Natyam
at various prestigious festivals and is the recipient of many awards.
He is one of the leading performers of his Guru’s productions and has
choreographed dance dramas like Krishna Leela Tarangini, Radhe Radhe
Govinda and Krishnam Vande Jagatgurum. He is also trained in the art
of Nattuvangam. He has travelled extensively in India and abroad.

PRIYA SINGH, ODISSI, MUMBAI
Priya Singh is a senior dancer trained in Odissi at Kaishiki Nritya Bhasa
under Guru Smt. Daksha Mashruwala and also trained in Kathak under Smt.
Anjali Gupta. She has performed in India at the Konark festival, NCPA and
also in the US, France and Croatia.

DEBANJALI BISWAS, MANIPURI, KOLKATTA
Debanjali has received training in Manipuri from Smt. Poushali
Chatterjee and is an active member of Nandanik Manipuri Dance
Academy since its foundation. She has also trained in Mridang Vadan
and Thang Ta. She has performed at various prestigious festivals
in India and abroad and is the recipient of awards. She has also
documented Kavadiattam, the lives of Nachnis, performers of the Yellamma, Karnataka
and Maibis of Manipur.

RUPANSHI THAKKAR, KATHAK, AHMEDABAD
Rupanshi is one of the youngest artists of Kadamb, committed to
dance as her career. She has done her graduation in Kathak dance at
the J.G College of Performing Arts, Gujarat University. Rupanshi has
travelled in India and abroad. This is her first performance as a
soloist. She has trained under Kumudini Lakhia and Vaishali Trivedi in Kadamb.

SUCHEENDRANATHAN P.K., KATHAKALI , KERALA
Sucheendranathan has a Master of Performing Arts ( Kathakali)
from Kerala Kalamandalam. He has done more than 1000 stage
performances in India and abroad. He has also played central
characters like Bhima, Hanuman, Dharmaputra, Nala, Arjuna, Lalitha,
Damayanthi and Mohini. He has conducted many workshops
on Kathakali. He is the recipient of Kottakkal Sivaraman Award
2011, Kalamandalam Padmanabhan Nair Award, Dr. K N Pisharodi Medal, Kottakkal
Krishnankutty Nair Endowment Award, and Achuta Warrier Award.

ARUPA LAHIRY, BHARATA NATYAM, KOLKATTA
Arupa Lahiry is a disciple of Smt. Chitra Visweswaran. She has gone on
to prove her mettle in solo performances at major festivals and sabhas
nationally and internationally, which include, Living Arts Centre,
Toronto; Madras Music Academy, Unbound Beats – a young dancer’s
festival, Soorya Festival and many more. Arupa has also participated
in major productions with Smt. Chitra Visweswaran as part of Chidambaram Dance
Company. She is the recipient of Singar Mani, Mumbai; Shikar Samman and has
received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

EXHIBITION
Natarani introduces Women Weave to Ahmedabad from 2nd to 8th April, 2012.
Women Weave will showcase its collection of cotton-silk handloom sarees, dupattas
& stoles with a touch of khadi woven by the women of Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh.
Whispers of khadi in shimmering cotton silk, this is an entirely new weave with a
beautiful fall and an intriguing combination of handspun and haute couture.
Women weave in an organization dedicated to empowering and improving the lives
of women who weave in rural India. Its goal is to make handloom a profitable, fulfilling
and sustainable income earning activity for women.
