アルバム・ジャケットは、ライブ風景ですが、何故かスタジオ録音です。
本作からシングル・カットされた 「ブラック・ウォーター」 は、全米1位を獲得しています。
タイトル名の 「What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits｣ の意味は、直訳すると 「かつての悪癖はいまや習慣となった」 ですが、転じて 「悪さして遊んでいるうちに本当にハマってしまった」 というスラングだそうで、まさにマリファナ煙草の事を言っているのでしょう。グループ名の「ドゥービー」もスラングで「マリファナ煙草」を意味しています。
