Why Is The Divorce Rate So High? Noah’s Time Reappears?

Recently a video on the Internet, in which a woman is dragged and beaten by a man on the street, has stirred up wide concern of net friends. In the video, the man grabs the woman’s hair and pulls her off the car. It can be seen clearly that her left wrist is bandaged with 10-centimeter gauze, which shows obviously she has slashed it. Then the man pulls her by the injured wrist with one hand, seizes her by the hair with the other hand and then presses her head down on the ground. While swearing terribly, he slaps her face violently. Later, he continues to seize her by the hair and drags her forward. Meanwhile, another woman is harshly reviling in the video: “A mistress! You shameless bitch! We’ll send you to the police station today.” I can see the woman beaten by the man looks thin and sickly in appearance, with dull eyes, extremely desperate. After being dragged over a distance, she is forced into another car and taken away. For a period of time, the video has been carried on endless discussions. It is said that because the beaten woman had an affair with a married criminal policeman, she divorced her husband and abandoned her two daughters, leaving them to her husband. Thereafter, she fooled about with the policeman. Finally, the policeman dumped her. In a fit of anger she came to his home and smashed all his electric appliances and furniture, and therefore the wife of the policeman called a friend, which is the man in the video, to beat the woman violently.

As a matter of fact, there are many cases like this. As long as you connect to the Internet, similar news are seen everywhere: A girl in her freshman year at a certain famous university gives up her studies and marries a boss who is over forty years older than her; a certain popular star of the day divorces for the fourth time and marries a foreign journalist; a chairman of a certain company owns two wives at the same time and many children.

What’s more, the divorce rate in every country is going up year by year. According to the UN’s statistics, in recent years the divorce rate in many countries in the world has been rising gradually. The divorce rate in US and many European countries has remained high for a long time, and besides, the divorce rate in many Asian countries has had a tendency to approach that in European and American countries.

According to incomplete statistics, the US has a population of about 300 million at present, and married people make up 59 percent of the population, but the divorce rate is also very high. In the 1950’s, 90 percent of married couples could maintain their marriages for more than 10 years, whereas in the 1990’s this proportion has fallen to less than 50 percent. In the past two years, many of the aged people more than sixty years old and even the old couples over 80 years old have also joined the ranks of divorce.

In recent years, South Korea’s divorce rate has risen at an average speed of 0.5% annually. In 2003, The Marriage and Divorce Statistics in 2002 published by Korean Bureau of Statistics showed the divorce cases broke the highest record in history. In a year, there were about 30.6 million marriages while 14.5 million divorces.

In May of 2004, an article from the newspaper The Hindu described, “The divorce rate in India is skyrocketing.” Some social organizational experts who devoted to women’s rights and interests estimated that in 2004 the national divorce rate was 0.58% or so, which was double that of ten years ago.

According to figures released by German Federal Statistical Office, last year nearly 200,000 German couples divorced.

According to statistics of Chinese Civil Affairs Department, in 1980 divorces reached 3.41 million; in 1990, divorces reached 8 million; in 2000, there were 12.1 million divorces; in 2003, 13.31 million divorces; and in 2005, 16.13 million divorces.

Besides, in the past years homosexuality has also come into fashion in our county town. After having lived with her husband for 12 years, the elder sister of one of my classmates found her husband actually was a homosexual, which made her desperately sad and cried all day long. This phenomenon against ethics and morals has been seen time and again. Many countries all over the world have admitted same-sex marriage in law, and more and more countries set up hotels especially for homosexuals. Besides, the beaches and festivals named homosexuality have become hot topics in traveling abroad. This really makes me unthinkable.

From the above facts we can see that our hearts are being flooded with and eroded by negative news arriving successively. In the beginning, people hated and loathed these odd things, yet gradually people start to accept and agree with them. Inexplicably, these social odd things transferred themselves into positive things. Countless people all unknowingly receive these trends: Extramarital affair resolves itself into the symbol of one’s status bit by bit; homosexuality has been hugely popular. Little by little people begin to think in their hearts: “If you are young, promising and brilliant, but you have no admirers or lovers by your side, then you are incapable,” “If you only have a good wife at home but no affairs outside, you are a failure,” “Love is most lofty. Regardless of being gay or straight, we should be respected,” and “Our age isn’t a problem because love is priceless.” … But, even though we greatly satisfy our fleshly desires, are we really happy in our hearts? At that moment, in that video the extremely desperate expression of the woman appeared before my eyes again and I couldn’t help but think: To seek the temporary excitement she gave up her family and children, but did she truly find happiness? Maybe we aren’t the person involved, so we can’t appreciate that pain; perhaps we have already been accustomed to these matters. And however, at the dead of night, will you think: Why does mankind fall into the tunnel of evil and fornication? It is obvious that in these matters people have lost the morality and humanity, but why do people regard such matters as usual ones? If we human beings follow this path to walk all the time, then what will be the ending? Facing this circumstance, where should we be headed?

I can’t help recalling God’s word, “Born into such a filthy land, man has been severely blighted by society, he has been influenced by feudal ethics, and he has been taught at ‘institutes of higher learning.’ The backward thinking, corrupt morality, mean view on life, despicable philosophy, utterly worthless existence, and depraved lifestyle and customs—all of these things have severely intruded upon man’s heart, and severely undermined and attacked his conscience. As a result, man is ever more distant from God, and ever more opposed to Him. … not a single person who will willingly obey God, nor, moreover, a single person who will willingly seek the appearance of God. Instead, under the domain of Satan, man does nothing but pursue pleasure, giving himself over to the corruption of the flesh in the land of mud.” God’s word reveals the substance and root of the problem. Because we human beings are far from God’s care and live under Satan’s domain, our hearts and souls have been controlled by Satan, and it has already instilled all negative statements into us, such as “Life is short, so have fun,” “Enjoy yourself today,” “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all,” and “The Red Flag does not fall at home, yet colorful flags flutter outside.” Our hearts are eroded by degrees and we become more and more evil. Regardless of men or women, many people look for “lovers” and become the third party who breaks other’s family. The young women hang out with wealthy persons and act as mistresses, and it can be found everywhere that the young men fool about with rich ladies. Only for the sake of their own self-interests, they lose the basic morality and ethics and even homosexuality has also been a general social phenomenon. After following satanic fallacies and finishing these matters of losing ethics and morality, people gradually become heartless and feel darker and darker within. They will no longer long for bright, beautiful and good things, but only walk further and further in the wrong path.

God has warned us, “Look back to the time of Noah’s ark: Mankind was deeply corrupt, had strayed from the blessing of God, was no longer cared for by God, and had lost the promises of God. They lived in darkness, without the light of God. Thus they became licentious by nature, abandoned themselves to hideous depravity. Such men could no longer receive the promise of God; they were unfit to witness the face of God, nor to hear the voice of God, for they had abandoned God, had cast aside all that He had bestowed upon them, and had forgotten the teachings of God. Their heart strayed farther and farther from God, and as it did, they became depraved beyond all reason and humanity, and became increasingly evil. Thus they came ever closer to death, and fell under the wrath and punishment of God.” Thinking back, in Noah’s time, people ate, drank, married and gave in marriage, and became sinful and licentious, losing the likeness of the man created by God in the beginning and forgetting God’s teachings. Finally, God destroyed people in that time with a flood. Nowadays the extent of people’s depravation has been far and beyond that of the time of Noah. When the evil things are regarded as the proper and right ones in most people’s eyes is the very time that we people walk toward destruction and are destroyed by God. Just as God’s word says, “Once man’s corruption reached this point, God would no longer have patience. What would replace it instead? The coming of God’s wrath and God’s punishment.”

Faced with Noah’s Day reappearing, where should we be headed? The people in Noah’s day wallowed in glittering nightlife, indulged in the flesh, and didn’t worship God. At last they were destroyed in the flood by God. However, when God sent down the flood, only eight members of Noah’s family in the ark survived the flood, just as God says: “Only Noah worshiped God and shunned evil, and so he was able to hear the voice of God, and hear the instructions of God. He built the ark according to the instructions of God’s word, and assembled all manner of living creatures. And in this way, once everything had been prepared, God unleashed His destruction upon the world. Only Noah and the seven members of his family survived the destruction, for Noah worshiped Jehovah and shunned evil.” God’s words show us the way we should walk on, that is, we should listen to God’s voice, come before God, and keep away from the evil worldly trends and the corruption of Satan. The reason why Noah could survive was that he didn’t follow the evil trends but listened to God and accepted His salvation and guidance, so in the end he was blessed by God. Now, God’s wrath has come upon all the people, and the disasters all over the world have become greater and greater: all kinds of earthquakes, floods, droughts, air accidents, shipwrecks, rampant plagues and illnesses, and so on. Does this not God’s righteous flames appearing to man? Only those who come before God can be protected by God. And what’s more, only those who truly worship God can survive in the disasters in the future and enter the beautiful destination that God has prepared for mankind.
