Are you aware of the existence of the "Japan-China Press Exchange Agreement"?
I would like tentatively to share the insights of Mr. Yoshiro Kamijima, one of the prominent Japanese journalists.
In April 1964, when there were no formal diplomatic relations between Japan and China, a press exchange agreement was concluded between Japan and China.
In March 1968, the previous agreement was revoked, and a pro-China politician mediated concluding of a new Press Exchange Agreement.
Under this new press exchange agreement, or the "Japan-China Press Exchange Agreement," Japanese newspapers are not allowed to station reporters in China unless they comply with the "three political principles" set as conditions by the Chinese side.
