Rishi Sunak called an early UK general election for 4 July.
The PM made the announcement in a rain-soaked speech outside 10 Downing Street last month.
One conservative MP said, “ I just don't understand it.”
Because Labour has been posting large leads in national opinion polls.
I also wondered why the Prime Minister brought forward the election .
The PM said that our plan and priorities were right. The fall in inflation and emergence from recession were proof.
The Prime Minister's camp felt that things might not improve much in the future.
So that might risk making any Conservative defeat worse, If the election would be postponed.
Probably Sunak thought
“ do it now or it could get worse”.
I guess,
Indeed, Labour is leading in national opinion polls now.
However, Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, is even less attractive than Sunak.
I wonder if many people would believe that Starmer could achieve much.
Perhaps , Sunak may win the bet.
