The first snow came in mid-late September. A few showers appeared in between, but for the most part we enjoyed quite a few days of sunshine. Then came just a few days ago mid-October. Now today we still have snow and it seems it will stick around this time until next spring when we start to see the soil again. On that same note though, you'll notice a few areas along the trail which aren't covered in snow. Take a few guesses as to why. In the meantime enjoy the walk around the main course, it takes about 1hr more or less. Dress warm from toes to head, it get's chilly up here.
Hmm, what do you think? Hint: it has to do with volcanic activity
Must have been a windy night as the snow fell.
Reminds me of different plant leaf and seed shapes.
Mountain Ash completely leafless, has a very unique look when the snow wind shaped ice takes hold.
Now seeing this reminds me of mushroom hunting. I must really miss the fall season already.
The haimatsu "Siberian dwarf pine" with its thick, strong needles and dense structure bush-like, it holds up pretty well even as the snow begins to weight it down.
Sugatami Station. Ask us for any information or talk about nature, really, it's what we are here for.
