"In March of this year (2019) I went to Taiwan to give a lecture. Taiwan was under pressure by the Chinese government. It was warned by Xi Jinping in January that China could carry out a military invasion into Taiwan if it tries to become independent. So I went there in March, and even if it's not an official statement from the Japanese government, as the president of Happy Science and of HRP, I Ryuho Okawa declared we will protect Taiwan and we will never abandon them ever again. It's my personal promise, and am not sure if it will become the official government's statement at some point. Anyway, since I said this, I intend to do whatever I can.
So in Hong Kong, in short, the freedom of speech, voting, holding political activities, expression and press is now being restricted and people are now fighting to protect these freedoms.
And this time their protest march of a million participants was reported by many international TV stations including our NHK, but in China, this news was immediately blacked out, and it's quite normal for the Chinese government.
The 1 million scale demonstration can be blacked out there, even if it's not their local channel but international TV from overseas. And it's as if this incident didn't exist at all.
Now it's said that we never know exactly how many people died in the Tiananmen Square incident.
We never found the remains of the victims, because they were all taken somewhere and buried. This is China.
So they have neither the freedom of press nor freedom of opinion. They don't even have freedom of election, de facto.
I think when Hong Kong is deprived of freedom, the next Target will be Taiwan and after Taiwan, the targets could be the Senkaku Islands and Okinawa.
The protesters who weren't armed numbered more than one million, a seventh of the population of Hong Kong, but the Chinese government are trying to conceal the incident and attacks them by labeling their action as a riot or a rebellion. We see that there is absolutely no democratic foundation which has been established in China. They have no intention to listen but think only about suppressing the people.
In their history, there were many conflicts between nations for a long time, so they have nowadays some conviction that unification and a stable reign is the only justice and goodness, but this way of thinking is clearly different from the current world's trend.
I think those who have the power to suppress people have the responsibility to receive criticism from an impartial point of view. That's why we established an election system to avoid fights with real swords or guns, in order to let people express their opinions. This is democracy.
Protesters are being attacked with rubber bullets or tear gas, but the oppression can be something more than that.
There are only a few things we can do and we cannot expect any intervention from the Japan Self-Defense Forces or from our own government.
But the contents of this lecture will be surely shared with the people of Hong Kong, so I address the Hong Kong people, and at the same time to the Taiwanese. In the name of Ryuho Okawa, as its founder, Happy Science as a religious organization and HRP as political party will support you in defending your freedom! This is what I'm thinking.
China became such a gigantic country and hasn't yet integrated the notion of fundamental human rights. It is unpardonable. They should learn more. They didn't learn such basics and have just maintained their feudal like system. We shouldn't forgive this.
This is where atheism and materialism will lead in the end. There is nothing other than earthly power, authority, and pleasure for then, because they believe that everything will end with death. But there is actually another world after death, from where God and Buddha are observing this world, and this is why people seek for justice and goodness, and fight even at the risk of their lives."
