IU and BoA's talent and success

IU and BoA's talent and success
IUとBoAの才能と活躍の明暗

BTS Suga, Chungha, IU, etc. - Introducing K-POP idols who succeeded despite financial difficulties

IU → Born May 16, 1993 (26 years old)

BoA → Born November 5, 1986 (34 years old)

IU → She left her parents who had financial problems and lived with her grandmother for a time. However, even in her financially difficult living situation, she did not give up on her dream of becoming a singer. In 2008, she debuted as a solo singer at the age of 15.

She initially trained hard as a member of a girl group.

However, her singing voice stood out from the other members, both in a good and bad way.

★After a few years of hiatus from the time when S.E.S and Fin.K.L were popular (2000-2004), Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls debuted in the latter half of 2007. Both of them quickly became popular (Wonder Girls' popularity was ahead at first), sparking the girls' boom.

Few people may remember that BoA's time as a solo singer in Japan spanned the period when S.E.S. and Fin.K.L. were popular, and Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls were also active.

Like IU, BoA also had outstanding singing and dancing skills, and in a sense, she was a similar talent to IU (the only difference was the financial situation of her parents).

With the arrival of the K-POP boom, BoA also shifted her focus to Korea, but she became too big and did not have the opportunity to be active as part of a girl group.

In other words, BoA came to Japan and became popular before the girls' boom in Korea, and did not achieve much success after returning to Korea.

On the other hand, IU spent her days working her way up in Korea, became popular there, and entered the Japanese market, but her activities in Japan were unsuccessful.

As solo singers continue to struggle, the K-pop boom led by KARA and Girls' Generation also begins to die down.

It was fortunate for IU that the main vocalists of group singers began to sing solo songs as a way to overcome the slump. As a solo idol singer, IU was second to none in terms of singing, skill (or cuteness).

It was also good that she appeared in dramas (Dream High) and variety shows during her difficult times, spreading her name among the living room audience.

Fans who heard IU sing in the drama (Dream High) in which she co-starred with Suzy soon came to like her, as she starred in the drama and even sang the theme song.

As solo singers, IU and BoA were outstandingly talented and achieved great success.

But how should we interpret the fact that they have different fortunes in Korea and Japan...?

Is it just because they were born earlier?
