The end of the year and the 3 days of the new year and Apink

Apink releases individual posters for their solo concert "PINK SPACE 2018"... "6 people, 6 colors of the universe"
I spent most of the first three days of the new year watching dramas and movies.
I watched "Seven Samurai" directed by Akira Kurosawa and "The Eraser in My Head" starring Jung Woo-sung and Son Ye-jin, which were on TV.
I can't count how many times I've seen "Seven Samurai," but when I see it in the TV guide, I have to watch it.
I've also seen "The Eraser in My Head" twice, so the story is in my head.
But when I turned on the TV with the intention of watching a little, I ended up watching it right through to the end.
It's probably a sign of a masterpiece that you want to watch it over and over again.
As for dramas, I wanted to hear Taeyeon's (Girls' Generation) "Ma-nyuge (What if)," so I watched "Hong Gil-dong (co-starring Kang Ji-hwan and Song Yu-ri)" in one go.
I've already watched this drama once. However, the number of songs sung in "Ma-nyuge" (in scenes about Hong Gil-dong and Inok's sad feelings for love) was surprisingly small (I remember thinking there were more).
As for music, I usually only watched the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen on New Year's Eve (the first two hours), and AbemaTV's "Fukumen Kamen" on the 1st and 2nd.
I watched the Kohaku Uta Gassen because TWICE was on stage. In recent years, I've only taken a quick peek at the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, but with TWICE's performance, I watched the entire first two hours.
At first glance, it seems like the competitive nature of the Kohaku Uta Gassen is getting weaker every year.
Although the show is long and consistent, there are times when the comedians seem to be the stars and the singers, who are supposed to be the stars, seem to be mere supporting actors.
In recent years, music shows have disappeared due to lack of viewer ratings. They are barely surviving by incorporating karaoke and other creative ideas.
As such, it is difficult to compete with music shows in a conventional way.
As such, it seems as if they are trying to increase the viewer ratings by incorporating the variety aspects of other TV shows.
Even so, the impression remains that it is somehow half-baked.
I was intrigued by the music show "Masked Mask" that aired on AbemaTV on the 1st and 2nd of the new year.
The show features Korean entertainers who wear masks and compete to see who can sing the best.
The masked entertainers who appear are both currently active singers and former singers who have retired.
Some of them are actors, while others are outside the industry.
The stages are selected by a 99-member panel of professional and non-professional judges.
Those who lose in the knockout stages have to remove their masks to reveal their true identity, while those who win keep their masks on as they advance to the next round.
The final winner competes against the previous champion, and if they win, they become the new champion while still wearing their mask. The previous champion then has to remove their mask and reveal their true identity, which takes just under four hours.
The stage lasts for almost four hours, but I felt the deep appeal of music in this program.
The first and second days were filled with moving moments.
I was also surprised many times.
Actress Lee Sung-kyung beat a talented singer to advance to the second round, and the main vocalist of the unknown girl group Melodies beat the previous champion on the first day to become the new champion.
There was a segment where the judges had to guess who the masked singer would be, and SM's Super Junior leader Leeteuk made us laugh when he predicted that Seohyun from Girls' Generation would be the main vocalist for Melodies.
This was a great reminder that even unknown Korean idol groups have singers of Seohyun's caliber.
And so, while I was writing this article, I was able to listen to the entire performance of Apink's "3rd CONCERT," which began with the performance of "MYMY."
