Jeon Somi, who left JYP, seems to be teaming up with YG.

On the 23rd, a media outlet reported, "We have confirmed that Jeon Somi has signed an exclusive contract with THE BLACK LABEL, founded by YG Entertainment's TEDDY."

THE BLACK LABEL is an independent label under YG, founded by YG Entertainment's flagship producer TEDDY. Singer Zion.T, who appeared as a producer on Mnet's "SHOW ME THE MONEY 5," and producer KUSH are also members of the label.

Earlier this August, JYP Entertainment officially announced that after discussions with Jeon Somi, they had agreed to terminate her exclusive contract.

Jeon Somi made her face known through JYP Entertainment's girl group survival show, Mnet's "SIXTEEN."

She was selected as the final winner of "Produce 101" and debuted as a member of I.O.I.

After that, she also appeared on KBS 2TV's "Sisters' Slam Dunk."

(From Entertainment News)

Jeon Somi, who was so active as the center of I.O.I, has completely lost her presence.

Looking at her photos for the first time in a while, she has lost her girlish look and exudes the vibe of a full-fledged model.

Her beauty has increased, but she seems a little less approachable.

I wish we had seen her perform solo or as a duo before this happened.

Perhaps JYP was also worried about this.

They had been looking for an opportunity to debut her while having her appear on variety shows, but it was difficult as she had already made it big.

There has long been talk of JYP's plan to create a girl group centered around Jeon Somi as a sister group to TWICE.

While this never seemed to come to fruition, Somi left JYP.

It was speculated that this was because she was no longer part of the girl group plan, but this is a story that outsiders could not know.

By signing a contract with YG Entertainment's "THE BLACK LABEL", Somi is presumed to want to return to the idol stage.

However, if she is under the umbrella of YG Entertainment, it seems that the road to a solo debut will be even tougher than before.

However, there are also those who appreciate Jeon Somi's strong personality, so it is difficult to say for sure.

Even if a girl group debuts, it seems unlikely that it will be a large group (around 9 members?) as JYP had planned.

Will it be a multi-national girl group of around 4-5 members like BLACKPINK, with stronger members' personalities?

It seems unlikely that she will be promoted to a ribbon-like (ornamental) role like her in I.O.I or Nancy in MOMOLAND.

However, I am worried.

Idols depend on their popularity.

If JYP were to suffer a repeat of this, Jeon Somi's popularity (the 10-day chrysanthemum) would be lost.

I would hate to see her make a delayed debut, fail to sell, and then be accused of not having any talent.
