話は１５年近く前に遡ります。｢週刊女性」という典型的女性週刊誌の「誌上お宝鑑定団」という“いかにも”な企画に、当店の高額レコード買取額が紹介されたことがありました。ヤラセではないのですが、こういう場合結構金額的にも勢いがつくようで、「マイ・ボニー・ツイスト」は“買い取り価格７０万円・売り価格１５０万円”となっております。週刊誌の特性からしても、高額であればあるほど話は盛り上がるのでしょう。ちょうどおりしも「何でも鑑定団」というＴＶ番組がスタートしたばかりの頃のこと。大手の週刊誌であることには違いありません。とんでもない反応でした。発売された直後は、一日に５０件近く問い合わせの電話があったでしょうか。特に最高買取額８０万円の「ベスト・オブ・ザ・ビートルズ」には、女性ならではの凄まじい反応が。「２枚持ってますよ！」案の定、聞けば「赤盤」「青盤」のベスト盤２枚のこと（そんなものが１００万以上で売れるなら、こんな商売誰でもやりますよ）。ヒステリックに反応した女性に罪はありません。ＦＡＸで送った買取表にちゃんと明記して強調しておいた、発売中止盤のレコード番号＜ＯＰ－７１７７＞を掲載し忘れた週刊誌側のミスでした。そんなドタバタの対応でバテバテが続いてる中、若い女性から一本の電話が。
「父親が持ってた古そうなビートルズのレコードが３枚あるのですが・・。」
「あっ、そうですか。帯って分かりますか？」
「ハイ、分かります。」
「ついてますか？」
「はい、ちゃんとついてます。」
「色は何色ですか？」
「白いです。」
あっ、この娘（こ）は間違いなく歌詞カードのことを帯だと思っている。
「白？、青ってことはないですよね？（精一杯の期待と皮肉を込めて）」
「いいえ、白いです。」
「分かりました。で、値段はいくらになってますか？」
「１５００円です。」
「１５００円・・。じゃあ結構古いですね。・・・。１５００円、１５００円。 ！！！！ あの～ォ、その帯って、ひょっとして巻いてなくて下の方で切れてませんか？」
「はい、切れてます。」
「切れてるんだ！切れてるんだ！！切れてるんだ！！！ 」
思わず３枚分連呼してしまわずにおれない僕がそこにいました。（ウソ）
あの夏ヴィトンのバッグをいっぱい買い込んだ（？）女性は、今でも父親への感謝を忘れずにいるだろうか。

19667(昭和42)年04月XX日(？) April 1967 ⇒ When they returned in April 1967, the Beatles began work on what was to become the ill-fated Magical Mystery Tour project. The band, with Paul taking an increasingly dominant role, was showing signs of stress. Mal wrote "I would get requests from the four of them to do six different things at one time and it was always a case of relying on instinct and experience in awarding priorities. They used to be right sods for the first few days until they realized that everything was going smoothly and they could get into the routine of recording...T Then I would find time between numerous cups of tea and salad sandwiches and baked beans on toast to listen to the recording in the control room."
Once they'd completed the recording, Mal, Neil and their families were whisked off to Greece by the Beatles at George Harrison's expense. They spent a month under sunny skies on a wooden yacht in the Aegean. But their return. however, darker clouds were forming on the horizon. Before the summer was out, Epstein was dead after an overdose. Without his guiding hand, the Beatles plunged into the chaotic Magical Mystery Tour project. As ever, Mal was a crucial element, organizing the coach tour that formed the centerpiece of the film, recruiting actors and extras, then flying to Nice with Paul to film the Fool on the Hill sequence.
According to Mal, this trip, as did many, took place on an impulse; without luggage or papers. Paul sailed through immigration with no passport, but they were refused entry to the hotel restaurant because they didn't look the part. They headed off to a nightclub. "We had dinner in my room... The only money we had between us had been spent on clothes, on the understanding that money was to be forwarded from England by the Beatles office. After the first round of drinks... we arranged with the manager for us to get credit."
The next day, Mal and Paul returned to the club. "We took advantage of our credit standing, as money had still not arrived from England. News about Paul's visit to the club the previous night had spread, and the place was jammed. Now Paul, being a generous sort of person, had built up quite a bar bill, when the real manager of the club arrived demanding that we pay immediately. On explaining who Paul was and what happened, he answered, "You either pay the bill, or I call the police!" It certainly looked like we were getting thrown in jail. It was ironical, sitting in a club with a millionaire, unable to pay the bill." Eventually the hotel manager agreed to cover the money.
Paul and Mal returned to London, where Paul was to edit the film. But it was panned by the critics when televised that Christmas.

"A historic building in Bridge of Allan, where The Beatles were showered with missiles and booed offstage, is to be turned into luxury flats.
Stirling Council says it has a shortlist of two developers interested in transforming the disused Museum Hall into upmarket apartments, heralding the end of an era for Beatles fans and the Stirlingshire town.
Although the striking B-listed building has become a dilapidated shell since being closed by the council in 1978, it was one of the first venues where a Scottish audience heard The Beatles play their world-conquering pop music.
But instead of being met by hordes of screaming fans, the unknown Liverpudlians played to around 100 drunk farmers who jeered loudly and pelted them with coins.
The show on January 5, 1963, was the third night of a disastrous Scottish tour during which Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr had performed in half-empty halls in Elgin and Dingwall before reaching Bridge of Allan.
At that time the band were about to release their second single after their first, Love Me Do, reached only number 17 in the charts.
Andi Lothian, who booked them to play the hall, said: "It was absolute chaos. The crowd was all huge young farmers and they were absolutely plastered.
"They were gathering on the floor and would occasionally throw coins on the stage. One of the coins hit Paul McCartney's bass guitar. They were just not interested in them. I think the crowd were disappointed at the lack of women in the room.""

ビートルズは、ハンブルグに滞在を終えた後イギリスに戻り、1960年12月27日にリザーランド･タウン･ホール (Litherland Town Hall) で行われた帰国公演で圧倒的な大成功をおさめた。この日は、彼らのそのホールへの2度目の出演であった。 この夜のショーはブライアン･ケリー (Brian Kelly) によって主催された。北リヴァプールのあらゆる会場で、彼のビーケー･プロモーション社 (Beekay Promotion) が企画するイベントが催されていた。ビートルズはこの日から1961年3月11日までの期間に、ビーケー･プロモーション社との契約により36回の演奏している。その契約のいくつかは1960年12月27日のショーの直後に結ばれたものであった。 この日、ポールは初めてベースギターを演奏している。スチュアート･サトクリフがハンブルグに残ったため、その穴埋めにチャス･ニュービー (Chas Newby) が臨時代理のベーシストとして参加していたが、そのチャスも昨年の12月31日で抜けたからである。 ビートルズはこの日の出演に7ポンド10シリングを報酬として受けている。観客としてロリー･ストーム＆ザ･ハリケーンズ (Rory Storm and the Hurricanes) のジョニー･ギター (Johnny Guitar) とリンゴ･スターが見に来ていた。彼らは1昨日にハンブルグから戻っていた。

これはビートルズの4日間 (当初の予定では5日間) のスコットランド･ツアーの3日目であった。彼らはスターリングシャー (Stirlingshire)・ブリッジ･オブ･アーラン (Bridge of Allan) のヘンダーソン通り (Henderson Street) にあるミュージアム･ホール (Museum Hall) に出演した。入場料は5シリングで、ロイ･パードン＆ザ･テルスターズ (Roy Purdon & The Telsters) がサポート出演している。彼らはこのショーでは満員の観客の歓声を受ける代わりに、100人ほどの酔った農民からヤジとコインの攻撃を受けた。
アンディ･ロシアン(ミュージアム･ホールにビートルズをブッキングした人物) ⇒ あれは大混乱だった。観客は若い巨体の農民ばかりで、彼らは泥酔していた。フロアに集まった奴らは時々コインをステージに向かって投げた。その1つはポール･マッカートニーのベース･ギターに当ったけど、ビートルズはただ奴らを無視していた。私は会場に女がいないことに奴らはがっかりしたんだと思うね。
このホールは1887年にジョン･マクファーレン (John Macfarlane) の管財人により、マクファーレン･ミュージアム＆アート･ギャラリー (Macfarlane Museum and Art Gallery) として建設された。後には集会場やコンサートホールとして利用され、1950年にブリッジ･オブ･アーランの町議会に寄贈される。ビートルズがここに出演した後は建物は補修されることもなく、1978年に構造的な脆弱性から閉鎖された。
