海外での監査人交代事例（AccountancyAgeより）

AccountancyAgeという英国のサイトで、上場会社の監査人交代事例が３つ続けて紹介されていました。いずれも、大手会計事務所間の交代です。

まず、AVIVAという保険会社（会社のサイトによると英国最大だそうです）の監査人が、Ｅ＆ＹからＰｗＣに交代した事例です。

Aviva swaps E&Y for PwC audit

この会社は、監査を入札にかけることを前回の株主総会で表明していましたが、このたび、10年間のＥ＆Ｙとの契約を打ち切って、監査人を交代させることを明らかにしました。

会社側は、前任監査人との間では、すばらしい関係を保ってきた、Ｅ＆ＹがAvivaにすばらしい監査サービスを提供してきたことに対して、取締役会は感謝の意を表したいと述べています。

The FTSE 100 insurance business announced at its last annual general meeting it was putting its audit requirements out to tender.

Today the company revealed after ten years it was changing its auditor.
A spokeswoman said the business had an "excellent relationship" with its former auditors.・・・

A statement from Aviva said: "The board of Aviva would like to thank Ernst & Young for the excellent audit services provided to Aviva group."

入札ということなので、報酬面などで攻防があったと推測されますが、円満に別れたという形にしているのは、見習いたいところです。

次は、Canadian Pacificという鉄道会社の監査人が、ＰｗＣからデロイトに交代したという事例です。

Deloitte shunts PwC off railway audit

DELOITTE HAS BEATEN PwC to win the audit of railway company Canadian Pacific, displacing its Big Four rival.

3つ目は、Aegis Groupというマーケットリサーチ会社の監査人が、デロイトからE&Yに交代した事例です。

最初の事例と同様に、競争入札が行われた結果、7年間継続していた契約が打ち切られたそうです。

ERNST & YOUNG has elbowed Deloitte out of the way to take the audit of Aegis Group, an international market research and brand management specialist.

Deloitte's resignation follows a competitive tender process that brought to an end its seven-year relationship with the company, as detailed in a letter to shareholders.

このような交代はビッグ4の間で椅子取りゲームをしているだけですが、金融危機により監査人にスポットライトが当たっており、投資家や株主は、監査人と会社の関係が長期にわたっていることに居心地の悪さを感じているとこの記事ではいっています。

True, these changes still keep high profile audits firmly within the Big Four family, but they may be significant nonetheless. Since the financial crisis turned the spotlight on auditors, investors and shareholders have been uncomfortable with the evidence of auditor-client relations stretching back decades, and audit committees have felt themselves under pressure to justify tendering decisions.
