英KPMG、ロンドン中心部の会員制クラブをソフトバンクに売却か（economiaより）

SoftBank in takeover talks for KPMG Mayfair club

英国ＫＰＭＧが、ロンドンのメイフェア地区に保有している会員制クラブを閉鎖し、日本のソフトバンクに売却する交渉をしているという記事。

Japanese multinational company SoftBank is in “advanced talks” to takeover KPMG’s London private members club

コスト削減計画の一環だそうです。

Last month it was revealed that KPMG was considering closing its Mayfair club as part of wider cost-saving plans.

Number Twentyと名付けられたこの会員制クラブは、パートナーやクライアント向けとして2015年に開設されました。

The Big Four firm opened the exclusive club, named Number Twenty, for partners and clients in London’s exclusive Mayfair in 2015.

この５階建てのタウンハウスは、食事や接待のために使われていましたが、現在、閉鎖を検討中です。

The five-story townhouse was used to dine and entertain but is now under consideration for closure.

他にも買い手候補がいましたが、ソフトバンクが残ったそうです。

また、このクラブについては、監査クライアントの接待にも使われており、英国財務報告審議会が懸念を示していました。（独立性の観点からはまずいでしょう。）

According to a report today from the Financial Times, SoftBank has seen off other interested parties for the club. In addition, the Financial Reporting Council had raised concerns with the firm about hospitality being provided to audit clients.

ＫＰＭＧは、監査クライアントである会員を全員、来年1月1日以降出入禁止とするそうです。

KPMG has agreed that all of Number Twenty’s members who are also audit clients will be banned from the club from January 1 and businesses regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
