From Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins express their sympathies and condolences to the family of T.J. Turner, whose untimely passing came as a shock to the entire organization.
Turner, a defensive end, played seven seasons with the Dolphins, from 1986 through 1992. In his career in Miami, he played 101 games with 83 starts and finished with 295 tackles and 16 sacks. He had his best season in 1988 when he started all 16 games for the Dolphins, finished third on the team in tackles (and first among defensive linemen) with 75 stops, and led the team with five sacks. He originally joined the team as a third round draft choice (the 81st overall pick) in 1986 from the University of Houston.
Turner’s Dolphin teammate, wide receiver Nat Moore, who also serves as the team’s Alumni, Youth and Special Projects Director, had this to say about Turner’s passing:
“T.J. was a very proud and good family man. When he came to the Dolphins in 1986, you could tell immediately that he was going to be an impact player. T.J. was one of the stalwarts of our defense and a member of our family that will be truly missed. The Dolphins express our sincere condolences to his loved ones and our prayers go out to them during this difficult time. “
