Mr. Takashi Matsumoto:
President of the Federation of National Public Service Personnel Mutual Aid Associations since 2017. Born in Tokyo in 1952. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, in 1976 entered the Ministry of Finance, where he served as head of the Budget Bureau’s Planning and Administration Division and deputy chief of the Budget Bureau. In 2007 he became director general for economic, fiscal, and social structure at the Cabinet Office; in 2012 he was tapped as vice-minister there. In 2014 he became special advisor to the Dai-ichi Life Research Institute. He is the author of books including Daikyōkō o kakenuketa otoko: Takahashi Korekiyo (Takahashi Korekiyo, the Man Who Dashed Through the Great Depression) and Nihon keizai teiseichō kara no dakkyaku: Chijimitsuzuketa Heisei o koete (Breaking Japan’s Economy Out of Low Growth: Going Beyond a Heisei Era of Lasting Contraction) and coauthor of Ketteiban: Nit-Chū Sensō (The Definitive Sino-Japanese War) and Ketteiban: Dai-Tō-A Sensō (The Definitive Greater East Asian War).
