『日本書紀』安閑天皇 3
五月、百濟遣下部脩德嫡德孫・上部都德己州己婁等、來貢常調、別上表。秋七月辛巳朔、詔曰「皇后、雖體同天子而內外之名殊隔。亦可以充屯倉之地、式樹椒庭、後代遺迹。」逎差勅使、簡擇良田。勅使奉勅、宣於大河內直味張更名黑梭曰「今汝、宜奉進膏腴雌雉田。」味張、忽然悋惜、欺誑勅使曰「此田者、天旱難漑、水潦易浸。費功極多、收獲甚少。」勅使依言、服命無隱。
冬十月庚戌朔甲子、天皇勅大伴大連金村曰「朕、納四妻、至今無嗣、萬歲之後朕名絶矣。大伴伯父、今作何計。毎念於茲、憂慮何已。」大伴大連金村奏曰「亦臣所憂也。夫我國家之王天下者、不論有嗣無嗣、要須因物爲名。請爲皇后次妃建立屯倉之地、使留後代令顯前迹。」詔曰「可矣。宜早安置。」
≪英訳≫
In May, Baekje (百済) sent Kudara no Kahōshūtoku (下部脩徳) and Chākutokuzon (嫡徳孫), along with Kamutotoku no Kotsukurura (上部都徳己州己婁), to offer tribute as part of the regular annual payment. They also presented a separate letter of tribute.
In the autumn, on the first day of the seventh month (July), an imperial edict was issued: “Although the Empress holds a status equal to the Emperor, because she resides within the inner palace, her name is not widely known outside. Therefore, I wish to designate a region for a miyake (屯倉), a royal estate, to be established for her, and build a palace for the Empress there, so that future generations will remember her legacy.”
An imperial envoy was dispatched to search for fertile lands. Following the imperial order, the envoy went to Ōshikōchi no Ajihari (大河内直味張) and declared, “You are to offer a fertile field known as the Kōyu (膏腴), a land fit for farming.”
Ajihari, however, became reluctant and, wanting to deceive the envoy, said, “This land is difficult to irrigate during droughts, and it floods easily when there is heavy rain. It requires a great deal of labor, and the harvest is meager.” The envoy, believing these words, reported this back without concealing anything.
In the winter, on the fifteenth day of the tenth month (October), the Emperor summoned Ōtomo no Ōmuraji Kanamura (大伴大連金村) and said, “I have taken four wives, yet I still have no heir. If I die without an heir, my name will disappear from this world. What do you think, my uncle Ōtomo? I am constantly worried about this.”
Ōtomo no Ōmuraji Kanamura responded, “This is also a matter of great concern for me. In our country, even if a ruler has no heirs, they often leave behind something to ensure their name is remembered. I suggest establishing a miyake (屯倉), a royal estate, in the name of the Empress and the other wives, so that future generations will honor their memory and keep their legacy alive.”
The Emperor responded, “That is a good idea. Let’s proceed with this quickly.”
≪この英文の和訳≫
五月、百済は、下部脩徳（かほうしゅうとく）と嫡徳孫（ちゃくとくそん）、さらに上部都徳（しょうほうととく）の己州己婁（こつくるら）を遣わし、毎年の貢納として調を奉りました。さらに、別の上表文も奉りました。
秋、七月一日、詔（みことのり）をして「皇后は天皇と同等の地位にあるが、宮中にいるため、その名は外部にあまり知られていない。それゆえ、屯倉（みやけ）の地を割り当て、皇后のために宮殿を設け、後の世に跡を残すことにしたい」と言われた。そこで、肥沃な土地を探すために勅使（ちょくし）を遣わされました。勅使は勅命を受け、大河内直味張（おおしこうちのあたいあじはり）に「今、汝は肥沃な土地である『膏腴（こうゆ）の田』を差し出しなさい」と伝えました。しかし、味張（あじはり）は急に土地を惜しむ気持ちが生じ、勅使を欺いて「この田は日照りの際には水を引くのが難しく、雨が降ると簡単に浸水してしまいます。労力は非常に多く、収穫はごくわずかです」と申し上げました。勅使はその言葉を信じ、そのまま復命し、何も隠すことはありませんでした。
冬、十月十五日、天皇は大伴大連金村（おおとものおおむらじかなむら）を召して仰せになりました。「朕(私)は四人の妻を娶っているが、今に至るまで嗣子（あとつぎ）がいない。もし嗣子なくして亡くなれば、朕の名はこの世から消えてしまうだろう。どう思う、大伴伯父よ。このことは常に朕の心を悩ませているのだ」。
大伴大連金村（おおとものおおむらじかなむら）は答えて申し上げました。「このことは、私もまた心から案じております。我が国では、嗣子の有無にかかわらず、王たる者は何かしらの記念を残し、それによって後世に自らの名を伝えておられます。どうか、皇后や他の妃のために屯倉（みやけ）を設け、後の世にその御跡を残して明らかにするべきであると存じます」。
天皇は「それは良い考えである。速やかに設けよう」と仰せになりました。
