この日はマシュー通り (Mathew Street) にあるキャバーン･クラブ (Cavern Club) のランチタイムショーへの126回目の出演だった。そしてこの日初めて、TV局のカメラが彼らの演奏をフィルムに収める。キャバーンのランチタイムショーは通常12:00pm～2:00pmに開催されていた。イブニングショーも含めると、これがトータル218回目のビートルズのキャバーン出演だった。ビートルズのキャバーン･クラブへの正確な出演回数は判っていないが、1961年2月9日から1963年8月3日までの期間に、少なくともランチタイムショーで155回、イブニングショーで125回の演奏を行っている。グラナダTV (Granada Television) のあるスタッフは、ビートルズについてファンから多くの手紙を受け取った後、盛り上がりを見せるその現象を調査することにした。マンチェスターを拠点とするグラナダTVのプロデューサーは、
1962(昭和37)年07月26日(木)にサウスポート (Southport) のケンブリッジ･ホール (Cambridge Hall) で彼らの演奏を初めて見た。そしてグラナダTVのディック･フォンティーン (Dick Fontaine) は事前にライトニングの条件のチェックするため、
1962(昭和37)年08月01日(水)にキャバーンを訪れていた。

グラナダTVのスタッフは『Know The North』という番組用に、ビートルズの♪Some Other Guy♪の演奏シーンをフィルムに収めた。この撮影はピート･ベストがグループから追放されて1周間にも満たない時期に行われたため、曲の終りに「We want Pete!」と叫ぶ男性の声が混じっている。

ジョニー･ハンプ(グラナダTVプロデューサー)『The Cavern』スペンサー･レイ ⇒ 彼らはキャバーンでの♪Some Other Guy♪の演奏で初めてTVにお目見えした。リンゴが入ったばかりの頃だから、注意深く聞けば「We want Pete!」という観衆の叫びが最後の方に聞こえる。彼らの対抗馬としてブライハウス＆ラストリック･ブラスバンド (Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band) も撮影した。しかし２つの理由でどちらも放映されることにはならなかった。ビートルズのフィルムは音質が悪すぎたし、ブラスバンドは組合規定の報酬をメンバー全員に要求してきた。50人もいたのですべてはおじゃんになった。ブライアン･エプスタインは僕に電話してきて、フィルムを放映するように尽力してくれと頼んできた。音質の悪さは現在なら問題にならない。沈没するタイタニック号のフィルムを今持っていたら、そのクオリティは問題にならないのと同じで、たとえあのバンドの音が聞こえなくても問題にならないだろう。それは歴史だからだ。
その映像と音声はわずかにタイミングがずれている。またジョンとポールの二人で歌っているにも関わらず、ジョンの声しか聞こえない。こうしたことからビートルズの海賊版コレクターの間では、♪Some Other Guy♪の２つのバージョンはどちらもこの日の収録なのか、後日の録音が重ねられているのではないかということに関して議論が続けられている。グラナダTVの音響技師ゴードン･バトラー (Gordon Butler) は、
1962(昭和37)年09月05日(水)にキャバーンに戻り、音声部分だけを録音し直す。
‡1962(昭和37)年08月22日(水)の録音ではマイク1本だったが、今回は3本のマイクを使った。この時録音されたのは♪Some Other Guy♪と♪Kansas City♪ / ♪Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!♪であり、後者は『ANTHOLOGY』シリーズに収録された。
ボブ･ウーラー『The Cavern』スペンサー･レイ ⇒ あの音響技師が♪Some Other Guy♪と♪Kansas City♪のアセテート盤を作ってくれと言って来た。それで1枚をレイ･マクフォール (Ray McFall：キャバーンのオーナー) に渡し、2枚をブライアン･エプスタインに渡した。僕も1枚自分のレコードボックスにしまっておいたんだが、もっと注意すべきだった。ビートルズが有名になった時、そのレコードは消えていた。1993年に1枚のコピーがクリスティーズ (Christie's) のオークションに出品され、15,000ポンドで売れた。それが僕の持っていたものかどうかわからないが、もしそうだったとしてもそれを証明することはできなかっただろうね。
撮影されたフィルムのクオリティは放送するにはあまりにも劣悪と判断され、ビートルズが有名になるまでお蔵入りとなった。『Some Other Guy』は
1963(昭和38)年11月06日(水)の6:30pmから放送の『Granada's Scene』という番組でで初めて放映され、それ以降は何度もくり返して放映されている。

★シアトルからバンクーバーまではチャーター機が使われたが、通関書類の不備で途中シアトルに戻るというハプニングがあった。このため遅れて到着した際カナダの記者に理由を聞かれてジョンは「俺たちの体からシラミを駆除するのに時間が掛かってね」とコメントしている。

【エピソード】
★1965(昭和40)年08月22日(日)の移動で乗っていた飛行機にアクシデントが起きた。ツアー中都市間の移動に使っていたアメリカン・フライヤーズ・エアライン社のロッキード機がミネアポリスから目的地のポートランドに到着する直前にエンジンのひとつが火を噴いた。
★同乗していた記者、、、「ジョンとポールはシートベルトを締めてジッと座り硬い表情をしていた。リンゴは真っ青な顔で、何が起きたのか、もし墜落したらどうすればいいのか尋ねていた。ジョージは非常口のそばに立って皮肉を一言「ボクらがあとどのくらい生きられるかなんて冗談は言わないほうがいいんだろうね。」と。」
★周囲にいた人の証言によるとジョンは「ビートルズと女性と子供が優先だぜ！」と叫び、「俺たちはバディ（ホリー）のところへ行くんだ。」とも語ったという。
★この出来事はメンバーにとって相当ショックだったらしく、
1965(昭和40)年08月23日(月)～26日(木)はロサンゼルスに滞在予定だったが、ハリウッドのベネディクト・キャニオン・ドライブにある借家で休暇を取ることに変更された。パーティも開かれ、訪れた映画俳優のピーター・フォンダとのLSDの経験は楽曲「She Said She Said」が誕生するきっかけにもなっている。
★広報のトニー・バーロウによると、シェア・スタジアムの控え室でインタビューを受けている最中に、突然ポールが演奏曲目を決めていないことに気がついたという。すっかり忘れていたそうである。

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛No.1 録音開始。セッション中、不協和音が聞こえていたグループ内部のテンションはこの日に最悪の形を迎える。リンゴが（非公式に）脱退してしまったのである。アンソロジーでリンゴは「（自分の）プレイは最低だし、他の3人は仲がいいし疎外感を感じた」と発言している。それをジョンの所に言いに出かけたらジョンは「仲が良いのは君らだろ」ポールも同じ答えだったそうな。何がどうすれ違ってしまったのか、リンゴはグループをこの日離れた。しかし、なぜかセッションは他の3人によって継続される（これ、けっこう傷つくよな・・・リンゴは・・・）この日はポールのドラム、ジョージのギター、そしてジョンの6弦ベースでリズムトラックを第5テイクまで録音
Ｎote･･･この曲はチャック・ベリーの「Back in the U.S.A.」からタイトルを取ってパロディーにしている。また途中のビーチ・ボーイズ風のコーラスや、歌詞の「Georgia's always on my mind」は、レイ・チャールズで有名な｢Georgia on My Mind｣のパロディーであると共に、グルジアの英語での綴りがジョージアと同じ(Georgia)であることを掛けている部分など、インドで一緒に滞在したビーチ・ボーイズのマイク・ラヴからアイデア提供された。ビーチ・ボーイズもこの曲をライブで演奏している。
⑧Ｎote･･･このアルバムのセッションでポールは●8月22日の「バック・イン・ザ・U.S.S.R.」8月28日の「ディア・プルーデンス」でドラムを叩いてはいるが「人として」そのリンゴ脱退騒動があって、和解して復帰した後に、またドラムを叩けるのか？という個人的な疑問もあったりするｗ 同じトライデントで録音された「ディア・プルーデンス」と比べてみると、リズムはともかくフィルインのシャープさがまるで違う気がする。いわばとても「リンゴ臭い」オカズなのである。

The Beatles had been filmed by Granada Television at the Cavern Club on ●22 August 1962, performing Some Other Guy for the Know The North programme. On this day their sound technician Gordon Butler returned to the venue to make a better-quality recording. Butler used three microphones rather than one for this evening show. He made an hour-long recording of The Beatles, of which performances of Some Other Guy and Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey! have survived. The first source for Kansas City is the one found on the Anthology proyect with an intro. The other is the complete acetate but without the intro.

On (sat)August 20th 1966, with just two days before the Beatles arrival in New York City, Gary Stevens and 'The Good Guys' at radio station WMCA invited Beatles fans to take part in a contest -- the winners of which would attend a Beatles Junior Press Conference

Beatle Press Conference: New York City 8/22/1966
The Beatles flew into New York in the late hours of
August 21st(sun) during their 1966 tour of North America. They took ●August 22nd as a night off in New York, still making time for the following press conference at Manhatten's Warwick Hotel.
Following the two press conferences on the 22nd, the Beatles enjoyed the rest of the night off.
