英PwC、受付係にハイヒール着用を強要し非難を浴びる（economiaより）

英国PwCの受付係の女性がハイヒールを着用することを拒んだために報酬も払われずに帰宅を命じられたと主張しているという記事。

PwC has been caught in a sexism row today after a temporary receptionist claimed she was sent home, without pay, for refusing to wear high heels

この女性はPwCが受付業務をアウトソースした先の会社に雇われていました。底がフラットな靴を履いて出勤したところ、2から4インチのハイヒールを買ってくるように命じられ、それを断ったところ、帰宅を命じられたとのことです。

Nicola Thorp, who was employed as a temp by PwC’s outsourced reception firm Portico, says she was sent home after she refused to source a pair of two to four inch heels after she arrived at work wearing flat shoes.

受付業務会社側は、受付係にドレスコードをもうけているのは違法ではないといっています。PwCは、受付業務会社とこの女性の問題だとして距離を置こうとしているそうです。

‘I expressed my confusion as to why [I was being turned away from work], and they explained that flat shoes are not part of their dress code for women,’ she told the Evening Standard.

‘The supervisor told me that I would be sent home without pay unless I went to the shop and bought a pair of two to four inch heels. I refused and was sent home.’

Her employers, PwC’s outsourced reception firm Portico, also apparently told her to wear make up for the role and gave her a colour chart of ‘acceptable shades’.
