英金融街の接待に当局が警告も日本と違う英市民の意外な反応

英国金融業界の接待事情を取り上げた記事。

「 「金融街シティの資産運用会社は顧客を接待し過ぎている」。英国の金融業界の振る舞いを監視しているFinancial Conduct Authority（ＦＣＡ）は最近、そうした警告を発した。

これに業界関係者は反発を強めている。「顧客と時間を過ごすことは、ビジネスの人脈をつくる上で非常に重要だ」と考える人が多いからだ。「以前に比べればずいぶんと質素にやっているのだが」という不満もあるようだ。」

お役人への接待に関して、ビッグ4は相当上位にあるようですが、全体の金額からして、日本の旧大蔵省への接待のような過剰なものはなさそうです。

A report by the National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed that senior officials across 17 government departments accepted £29,000 worth of gifts and hospitality in 2014-15. Every member of the Big Four made the the list of top ten freebie providers.

PwC came in second after the City of London Corporation. The firm offered 31 lunches and 32 dinners to government officials in 16 departments.

While most gifts were calendars, refreshments and sandwich lunches, the review of the registers and transparency data also identified bigger gifts such as tickets to professional sports and cultural events, sometimes accompanied by a spouse and children, bottles of champagne, wine for a team’s Christmas lunch and iPads.
