The 6th Multicultural Meeting
in Nagano

was held on Saturday,
April 27 from 10:30 to 13:30
at Tomitake House in Nagano-city.

The theme
“Let us experience Lithuania”

Participating countries:
Lithuania:2,Sri Lanka:2,
Thailand:1,Japan:21 persons


Advance preparation

was done by Jurate, Maria and the staff
on Saturday, March 30
 
We discussed about how to
introduce Lithuania and its cuisines.


 

   ①Meeting started and Ms. Shimizu
greeted to the participants.
 

It is very difficult to overcome the differences
between the different countries.
but we believe we can do that
through this Meeting
Let us learn the good things
of the many countries’ together

Even after resigning his diplomatic position,
he issued more than 2000 transit visa of Japan
as an acting consul and saved
about 6000 Jewish people 

 He was the righteous man, consequently,
in Lithuania everybody knows him.

We had the 4th Multicultural Meeting
in Nagano.

It was held on Saturday, February 23
from 10:30 to 13:30 at TOMITAKE HOUSE
in Tomitake, Nagano-city.
 
This time the theme of the Meeting was
“Let us experience Japanese 5 seasonal festivals”.

Participating countries:
Sri Lanka: 2 persons, Korea: 1 person,
Thailand: 2 persons, Japan: 23 persons.


Advance preparation

We put beautifully the Japanese seasonal festivals’
dolls and Kabuto.

It was rare but very impressing to see
the Hinaningyo (ornamental dolls)
and Kabuto(traditional Japanese military helmet)
at the same time.

Minemura Family prepared Hinaningyo
and Sakamoto Family prepared Kabuto etc. 

A day before this meeting.
We really appreciate their preparation 

 

We are grateful that many ladies
always help us for the meeting.

 Making Ohinasama (ornamental dolls)


MC showed the participants how to make Ohinasama.
This time we made the Ohinasama using the shells of the clam
and Japanese traditional handmade paper.

Ohinasama Kit was delivered to the participants.
(The male ornamental doll was already done
by the staff and delivered.)

Hina Arare, Field mustard marinated food
and the below is Chirashizushi
(Scattered sushi).

In Japan we eat Kashiwa Mochi on May 5
(Boys’ Festival)

 The Hinamatsuri(Doll festival) menu

We had Hinamatsuri menu lunch in happy harmony.
We deepened exchanges at the teatime.

We had the 3rd Multicultural Meeting
in Nagano.

  It was held on 26 January 2019
  from 10:30AM to 1:00PM
  at ‘Tomitake House’ located in Tomitake,
 Nagano-city.

 Participating countries:
  Sri Lanka: 2 people, Korea: 4 people,
  Philippines: 3 people, Japan:17 people


Advance preparation 

  5 major Korean cuisines for New Year
  were prepared by Korean ladies.
 They started the cooking at 8AM
 and the dishes were ready before the meeting. 

 
 Korean ladies placed Kimchi
and Chapchae on the plates.

 
 Korean lady fried Tijimi and placed on the plates. 

  
Japanese lady Ms Haneda prepared rice cakes.

 
Japanese lady prepared sliced rice cake soup.

  
These are ingredients for the sliced rice cake soup.


 ①Meeting started and Ms. Shimizu greeted.

  ②The schedule for the meeting was announced. 

Ms Koyama explained the Korean cuisine.
 

 Mr Kodama(front left) was the interpreter for the Filipino. 
 

 Ms Yagi made presentation regarding
‘Seollal’(Korean Lunar New Year).
Participants learned the Korean Lunar New Year.

 ④Korean cuisines were tasted.

Korean cuisines were dished up in big plates.

  Each person serve food on to his/her plate to eat.
 (The soup was the only cuisine which was served one by one.)


Ms Hae Jong was in charge of Tijimi,
 
 Ms Mi Jong was in charge of Chapchae.


Ms Hae Suk was in charge of Kimchi
and Ms Yu Suk was in charge
of Korean Sliced rice cake soup.




 Korean was spoken in the front of this photo
and English was spoken in the back of it.

⑤Participants enjoyed “Yut Nori”
which is Traditional board game
played in Korea during New Year. 

 
“Yut Nori” is the board game
and it’s the kind of “Snakes and Ladders”
played worldwide.
Instead of using dice “Yut Nori”
players cast 4 short wooden sticks called “Yut”.
Players can move forward their pieces depends
on the numbers of the wooden sticks’ fronts and backs.



Ms. Hae Suk explained the rule of “Yut Nori” in Japanese.
This time we played “Yut Nori” based
on the rule for the beginners.

 Each team has 3 pieces and the game
is won by the team who brings all their pieces home first.

 Mr. Kodama explained the rule
for “Yut Nori” to the Filipino in English
so they could also understood the rule for “Yut Nori”.

 The game was played between two teams.
One team was called “Hae Suk Team”
and the other was called “Yu Suk Team”.
“Hae Suk" team was using red pieces
and “Yu Suk” was using white pieces.

 These 2 teams competed! Which team won!?


Each team then casts the sticks in turn,
then moves a piece according to the score achieved.
Filipino youth also enjoyed playing "Yut Nori”.

Finally, "Red piece Hae Suk Team” won and game was over.
All the winning team members got prizes!

 ⑥Closing of the Meeting

so they were not in the photo.)

All the participants in the photo seemed happy
so they certainly enjoyed the meeting!

The 2nd Multicultral Meeting in NAGANO

was held on 22 December2018
from 10:30 to 13:30
at TOMITAKE HOUSE
located in Tomitake,Nagano-city.

 

Participating countries: Sri Lanka, Korea, Japan


 

 

Advance Preparation

 

 
Datemaki,Kuromame, Kurikinton,Sakekonbu,Kouhakunamasu,
Nimono were cooked by volunteers on the previous day.

We actuallyate and tasted Osechi-Ryori
(Japanese New Year Food)

 


We ate Ozoni(Japanese traditional soup
which con
tains rice cakes and vegetables)
and the flower of Japanese apricotwith carrot
which were
prepared by the participants
were also in Ozoni.

 

  We discussed the worryof the participant.

 

This time a Korean mom who married into Japanese family
talked
passionately abouther child's education.
