mud avalanche

2006-07-19 | about me
19 July, 2006

I think what happened today would be one of the most tragic histories in my hometown. You may already know the mud avalanche hit Okaya, Nagano. It is the city next to my home town and the place my younger sister and her family live.

Their address is Kawagishi-Higashi, just at the spot the avalanche hit. Fortunately her house is not located as high. The crazy mud didn't come but right up to the hill from her house.

In the morning I didn't realize it was that bad because where I live now was located the other side of Okaya and was totally safe, The rain had been falling hard but not pouring. Who predict that the disaster would come?
As TV shows broadcasted about Okaya on and on and on, I understood how huge it was. I came to be scared imagining if my sister would have injured.. There was a possibility that she might have died!

I thanked everything that protect her from the disaster!

Welcome to "sassia*s back yard", the English diary ! It is so wonderful to have you here !!

I am Sassia, a Japanese house maker who is in her 30s. I have been living in Toronto, Canada. Well, it has been for a year and five months now. It was last summer, my husband, Yoshi, got an opportunity to study in a graduate school here. I was dating with him at the time and we got married to come to Canada together...
I have interests in doing Tai-Chi, baking, watching movies, reading comic books and novels and ... English to speak !
Tai-Chi is the Chinese martial arts known as Tai-Kyoku Ken in Japan, by the way. I go to the gym and it provides the members various group lessons. Tai-Chi is one of the classes and I have been doing it for 7 months. And I took cake-baking and bread-baking courses in a career college here. Those are wonderful chances to know live English.

I have been keeping my diary in English on line for over a year. Yeah, I started a month after I got here in Toronto.
I am doing this because I want to improve my English skill. Especially speaking. You know, the tip you can be fluent is that you must come up with English words IN A FLASH. In other words, think directly in English !! Whoa, that sounds impossible, isn't it? But, it's amazing, more than half of people in Toronto were immigrants and most of them are so fluent in English!! They made it, why can't I ??? So I started to try whatever I thought it would be effective. Keeping English diary is one of them.
I am not sure if my speaking have been any better than when I started. ... Well, I can say that I write much faster for sure.
Anyway.

I came up with this idea today that I move in this goo blog.
They say, any day is lucy on which the thing occurs to you. Isn't it so true? So I started today.

There may not be anyone who wants to check out my past, but if you wish, feel free to check this out ! This is my old diary. I also put the link address on the right side.

Well, it is great seeing you !!
