I went to Kyoto to see a one‐man show of Osamu Inayoshi who is one of my respected person.
(I got acquainted with him at the tea ceremony.)
He is a potter. And he always has a kindly smile on his face.
He was born and brought up in Toyohashi city.(Aichi Pref. / Atsumi peninsula)
However, "Atsumi ware" which was locally made in the Atsumi peninsula is out of fashion these days.
So, the goal of his work is the revival of "Atsumi ware".
(not original one, but arranged in a modern one)
His works and the exhibition gallery were a good match.
Because of it, I had a very good time.
何でもかんでも古いままが良いのではない。
形骸化しているものをそのまま引き継ぐのではなく、良いとされてきた本質を見極め、
現代風にアレンジし、使いやすい、見栄えの良いものを作る。
穏やかに話をされていたが、その奥に秘められた、稲吉さんの強い気持ちが心に刺さった。
京都の個展に行けて本当に良かった。
稲吉さん作の器で、お茶菓子と抹茶も頂き、本当に幸せな一日だった。
