Welcome to Issues in Japan.
I would like to share the article of News Post Seven posted on February 24.
The title is:
Prince Hisahito's entry into Tsukuba University High School: Kiko's insistence on "academic background" to make his academic career brilliant.
On February 23, His Majesty the Emperor celebrated his 62nd birthday.
On the same day, His Majesty was congratulated by the heads of the three branches of government at the Imperial Palace.
In past years, His Majesty has been the only one to attend the celebration.
This year, however, it was announced in advance that Empress Masako would be attending the ceremony with him.
According to a reporter at the Imperial Household:
Invitees also attended the ceremony accompanied by their spouses.
It seems that Their Majesties are beginning to push their own "style," as they have overcome various difficulties by working together as a couple.
As if they were waiting for the day of celebration to pass, an emergency press conference is scheduled to be held in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the 24th.
The conference will be held at the University of Tsukuba, a national university corporation.
It is the parent organization of the high school attached to Tsukuba University, which the Akishino family's eldest son, Prince Hisahito, will enter this spring.
It was on February 16 that the Imperial Household Agency announced that Prince Hisahito would go to the high school attached to Tsukuba University.
According to an Imperial Household reporter:
Since the announcement, the University of Tsukuba has been inundated with inquiries from the media, parents, and alumni seeking explanations, which apparently led to the decision to hold a press conference.
