『古事記』仁徳天皇 4
自此後時、大后、爲將豐樂而、於採御綱柏、幸行木國之間、天皇婚八田若郎女。於是大后、御綱柏積盈御船、還幸之時、所駈使於水取司・吉備國兒嶋之仕丁、是退己國、於難波之大渡、遇所後倉人女之船。乃語云「天皇者、此日婚八田若郎女而、晝夜戲遊。若大后不聞看此事乎、靜遊幸行。」爾其倉人女、聞此語言、卽追近御船、白之狀具如仕丁之言。於是大后大恨怒、載其御船之御綱柏者、悉投棄於海、故號其地謂御津前也。卽不入坐宮而、引避其御船、泝於堀江、隨河而上幸山代。此時歌曰、
都藝泥布夜 夜麻志呂賀波袁 迦波能煩理 和賀能煩禮婆 迦波能倍邇 淤斐陀弖流 佐斯夫袁 佐斯夫能紀 斯賀斯多邇 淤斐陀弖流 波毘呂 由都麻都婆岐 斯賀波那能 弖理伊麻斯 芝賀波能 比呂理伊麻須波 淤富岐美呂迦母
卽自山代廻、到坐那良山口歌曰、
都藝泥布夜 夜麻志呂賀波袁 美夜能煩理 和賀能煩禮婆 阿袁邇余志 那良袁須疑 袁陀弖 夜麻登袁須疑 和賀美賀本斯久邇波 迦豆良紀多迦美夜 和藝幣能阿多理
如此歌而還、暫入坐筒木韓人・名奴理能美之家也。
≪英訳≫
When the Empress, for the purpose of enjoying the abundant pleasures, came to the province of Kii to gather leaves of the oak tree, the Emperor married the daughter of the Wakairatsume of Yata. Then, the Empress piled the leaves of the oak tree onto the boat and returned. At that time, she encountered a man who was used as a water-drawing office, on his way back to his own country. He met a boat belonging to a woman who serves in the imperial court came too late at Naniwa's Owatari. She told him the following story.
“The Emperor is currently happily playing with the daughter of Wakairatsume of Yata day and night. The Empress hasn’t heard about this, she peacefully enjoy her journey.” Hearing these words, the water administrator relayed the situation to the Empress exactly as had been spoken by a woman.
Thus, the Empress became greatly enraged and threw all the leaves of the oak tree that were piled on the boat into the sea. The place is now called Mitsu-no-saki. She then did not enter the Imperial Palace and, altering the direction of the boat, sailed up the Hori River and went to Yamashiro. At this time, she composed the following song:
“On the mountain, by the mountain, along the mountain stream,
As I travel upstream, passing the wide Sashibu tree (species of evergreen sacred to Shinto),
Beneath the wide camellia tree, shining like its flowers,
His sovereign arrives as expansively as the leaves of the camellia.”
Later, as she returned, passing through Yamashiro, she composed the following song at Yamaguchi in Nara:
“On the mountain, by the mountain, along the mountain stream,
As I travel toward the palace, passing the lovely Nara mountain,
Beyond the green mountains surrounding Yamato,
What I wish to see is the palace on the elevated Kadzuraki,
Near the house of my homeland.”
Having thus composed her songs, she returned and briefly stayed at the home of Nurinomi, a Korean resident of Tsutsuki.
≪この英文の和訳≫
その後、皇后は大いに楽しもうと、紀伊の国に柏（かしわ）の葉を採りにおいでになりました。その時、天皇は八田(やた)の若郎女(わかいらつめ)と結婚されました。
皇后は柏の葉をたくさん船に積み、お帰りになる時、水取の役所に使われる吉備の國の兒島(こじま)郡の仕丁(しちよう)が自分の国に歸ろうとして、難波(なにわ〕の大渡(おおわたり)で遲れてきた雜仕女(ぞうしおんな・宮中につとめる雑役婦)の船に遇いました。そこで「今、天皇はヤタの若郎女と結婚され、昼夜戯れておいでになります。皇后はこのことを知られていないため、静かに楽しんでおいでになることでしょう」と言いました。
仕丁(しちよう)はこの言葉を聞いて、皇后の御船に追いついて近づき、女の言った通りのことを皇后にお伝えしました。
それに怒り心頭の皇后は、積んでいた柏の葉をすべて海に投げ捨てられました。その場所は今、御津(みつ)の埼と呼ばれています。そして皇居には入らず、船を曲げて堀を遡り、河に沿って山代に向かいました。この時、歌を詠まれました：
山また山の山城川を
上流へとわたしが溯れば、
河のほとりに生い立つているサシブの木、
そのサシブの木の
その下に生い立つている
葉の廣い椿の大樹、
その椿の花のように輝いており
その椿の葉のように廣(おお)らかにおいでになる
わが陛下
山また山の山城川を上りて、
流れ上がる川にわたしが上っていく。
川岸に育つサシブの木の下に、
そのサシブの木の葉の広がりのように輝く、
その椿の花のように輝くわが陛下
その後、山代を回り、奈良の山口においでになり、次のような歌を詠まれました：
山また山の山城川を
御殿の方へとわたしが溯れば、
うるわしの奈良山を過ぎ
青山の囲(かこ)んでいる大和を過ぎ
わたしの見たいと思う所は、
葛城(かずらき)の高台の御殿、
故郷の家のあたりです。
こうして歌を詠みながら帰られ、しばらくは筒木の韓人であるヌリノミの家にお泊まりになりました。
