こちらの自然保護監視員は自然を相手に活動していますが、監視するのは自然だけではなく、人間も監視しております。散策路にある危険な所を整備したりする他、怪我された方を救助する活動もしております。

現在の紅葉時期では様々な方が姿見の池園地に訪れています。しかし、過去のデータを見ると、訪問者の増加に伴い、事故も増えます。その内、階段や石がゴロゴロしているところで転んでしまう方が多いですね。

Our job description in Japanese is 自然保護監視員しぜんほごかんしいん which roughly translates as "Nature Conservation Guardian". However, the 監視員かんしいん meaning is broad and can also mean a lifeguard. Here at Asahidake too, we watch out for the visitors as well as the flora and fauna. We try to fix any hazards on the trail and in the case of an accident we will help with rescue.

The current autumn colour season brings lots of different guests to our trails. Unfortunatly, looking at past data, there is often an increase in accidents along with the increase in visitors. People tripping and falling on the rocky trail and stairs is especially common.

散策路の特に下りにくい階段がある場所は、左から夫婦池の間・姿見の池展望台からの階段・中道となります。
Some particularly challenging areas are, left to right; between Meoto ponds, the stairs from Sugatami Pond and Nakamichi.

本ブログではロープウェイ姿見駅から30分以内、歩きにくいところをほとんど避けても見える景色を紹介したいと思います。
With that in mind, I thought I would introduce some of the sceanary you can see within 30 minutes of the Ropeway station, avoiding most of the challenging sections of trail.

エゾオヤマリンドウはロープウェイ姿見駅と第１展望台の間にあります。だいたいは茶色になりましたが、残っている紫で夏の姿はまだ見えます。
There are many Japanese Clustered Gentian (Ezo-oyama-rindou) between the Ropeway station and the first view point. They have mainly changed colour now, but you can still see the last hints of summer in the remaining purple flowers.

ウラジロナナカマドは先週の強風で葉っぱが全て吹き飛ぶ恐れがありましたが、８割以上が残っています。撮影したのは第１展望台のすぐ先の中道です。
We were worried most of the Japanese Mountain Ash (Urajiro-nanakamado) leaves would blow away in the strong winds last week, but about 80% of the leaves are still attached. This photo is from Nakamichi, just beyond the first view point.

中道に進んだら、旭岳もよく見えます。この先には急な階段があるので、景色を楽しんだら第１展望台の方に引き返すのがオススメです。
There are great views of Asahidake if you continue along Nakamichi. However there is a rocky staircase just beyond where this photo was taken, so it is recomended to head back towards the first viewpoint after you've taken in the view.

すり鉢池の手前にある満月沼とレッドカーペットのようなチングルマが見えます。
Just before Suribachi Pond is Mangetsu Numa (Full moon pool) and a red carpet of Aluetian Avens.

第３展望台の先に進んだら、夫婦池の間に下りにくい階段があります。しかし、階段を下らず裾合平への登山道に少し入ったら平な散策路を通り、鏡池の景色も見えます。晴れた日では、鏡池に映った旭岳山頂がとても綺麗だと思います。
The steps just beyond the 3rd viewpoint, between the Meoto Ponds can be hard to descend. However, head slightly down the Susoaidaira hiking trail there is great views of Kagami Pond. On a sunny day the reflection of Asahidake in the pond (Kagami means Mirror in Japanese) is one of the best views in the area.

姿見の池まで行かずに、夫婦池の鏡池とすり鉢池が見えます。
You can get a view of the two ponds that make up the Meoto Ponds (Kagami Pond and Suribachi Pond) without going down the steps.

散策路の近くに生えている低木には秋の色がよく見えます。クロウスゴ・シラタマノキ・チングルマ・ガンコウランとミネハリイが全て見え、秋の一覧ですね。
Autumn is also evident in the low shrubs growing close to the walking trail. In this photo you can see Oval-leaf blueberry, Shiratama-no-ki berries, Korean crowberry and Deergrass

どこまで行っても紅葉を楽しむことできますから、体力に合う程に散策に行きましょう。
As you can see, you don't have to go far to enjoy the autumn colours, so listen to your legs and take in the sights close to the ropeway.
