Folk Song のなかには、Ｔｒａｉｎ Song に分類されている曲があります。The  Brothers Four もｌｉｖｅ ではＴｒａｉｎ Song を集めBlue Water Line、Thiｓ Train、Rock Island Line、The City of New Orleans等をＭｅｄｌｅｙで演奏しています。Traditionalな曲が多い中The City of New Orleansは1970年にＳｉｎｇｅｒ Ｓｏｎｇｗｒｉｔｅｒ、Steve Goodman（ｽﾃｨｰｳﾞ・ｸﾞｯﾄﾞﾏﾝ）の書いた比較的新しい作品です。
City of New Orleans（ｼﾃｨ・ｵﾌﾞ・ﾆｭｰｵｰﾘﾝｽﾞ）はｱﾒﾘｶ合衆国のｲﾘﾉｲ・ｾﾝﾄﾗﾙ鉄道（Illinois Central Railroad）が、ｲﾘﾉｲ州ｼｶｺﾞとﾙｲｼﾞｱﾅ州ﾆｭｰｵｰﾘﾝｽﾞを結んで運行した昼行の旅客列車で、現在もｱﾑﾄﾗｯｸにより運行されている長距離列車です。
歌の歌詞は情景的で 古き良きｱﾒﾘｶを想起させる内容です、演歌で言えば、石川さゆりの"津軽海峡冬景色”的な曲でしょう。
1972年に Arlo Guthrie（ｱｰﾛｶﾞｽﾘｰ）によりヒットを記録し、その後Johnny Cash,（ｼﾞｮﾆｰｷｬｯｼｭ ） John Denver (ｼﾞｮﾝﾃﾞﾝﾊﾞｰ) 、 Judy Collins（ｼﾞｭﾃﾞｨｺﾘﾝｽﾞ）等Coverされ永遠のＴｒａｉｎ Songとして、現在も歌い継がれています。

酒瓶の入った紙袋を回してる
ﾌﾛｱｰの下でｺﾞﾄｺﾞﾄいってる車輪を感じながら
ﾌﾟﾙﾏﾝ（ﾌﾟﾙﾏﾝ式の開放式A寝台）のﾎﾟｰﾀｰたちの息子達、そして、技術者たちの息子達は
鋼鉄でできている、彼らの父親の魔法の絨毯の上に乗っているのさ
母親達は、赤ん坊と一緒に眠る、優しい鼓動に揺られながら
