Blindness

The night before yesterday, I watched this movie titled 'Blindness.'  

Whoa,  what a movie! I didn't expect I would find it striking this much. I just checked it because it starred Yusuke Iseya, the highly promising actor, ... in my opinion.  :-D   Yeah,  I am so sure people who watched him in Ryoma-den, the NHK dorama.  He acting Takasugi was in a way so sexy and surreal! Don't you think so?

Anyway,  in this movie he was the first person infected.  It was a story about unknown infectious disease!  The infected people simply and suddenly go blind.  The authority forced the patients in quarantine to avoid pandemic.  They kept into the unsanitary building with lack of food.  The story goes on around people who try to survive!  

It turned out for me that this movie premiered as an opening film at Cannes Film Festival 2008.

Desperate Housewives

Please let me write about this TV show, Desperate Housewives.

Since Yoshi and I joined ASAHI NET, the cable TV, we have been into this show. We thought from the title that the story would be some kind of soap opera or something but it was not. It was unexpected in a good way. It was full of mystery and humor. So absoabing!

The story begins with an housewife called Mary-Alice living in a affluent subarb, and she killed herself by shooting into her head. Secrets were left for 4 of her friends live nearby. Several stories about each of them go at the same time. The stories were so unpredictable, tangled and getting hopeless, yet funny.

We just finished watching the 1st season. Whoo, I cannot wait to watch the 2nd! I need Yoshi to be back though. It is more fun watching it together with him!

Death Note

I am so into Death Note since I saw the one director's cut version broadcasted on TV two weeks ago!

I can't believe I did not check it until now. What the! Right the next week I rushed to Tsutaya to rent the DVD's live-action version. I like the animation ver. better though, I can tell that Tatsuya Fujiwara and Kennichi Matsuyama both did a great act. Bravo!

Do you think I should go for comics to buy too?

I came up with this idea while I was watching a TV show King's brunch (王様のブランチ) this afternoon. I want to make someone deeply impressed!!!

The show was introducing a new movie called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I was like, "Hmmm...., sounds interesting ...."

Its storyline is like this; there are four girls at the age of 16. They were close friends to each other. One summer vacation, they each got a place to go, which means they go separately to face their problem. One is to find herself, another is to get over her mother's death, another is to ... gosh, I forget the rest. Anyway, those problems meant very serious to them that they need huge courage. So they got these pair of pants. They were so magical that could fit four of the girl, no matter if she is fat or slim. They decided to take turns to have the pants by mailing them.

I heard the story is about friendship and adolescence of the four girls. I was so convinced that the movie would make me impressed in tears.
And then, all of a sudden, I wanted to write a heart-warming story like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. ... Well, I haven't seen it yet though. I have no idea if the story is really good, heheh, but I believe it is great.

I got a little excited about this idea. Isn't it wonderful? Being carried away, I thought I will write in English. How many of you would really believe in me ? To begin with, I ordered two paperbacks of the story from Amazon.co.jp to know English expressions for novels.


今日の午後、王様のブランチを見たですよ。
映画紹介のコーナーで「旅するジーンズ　なんたらかんたら（忘れた；）」という映画が紹介されてたんですけども、おぉ～、何か感動しそうな感じィ～　
たった数シーンでほろりと来たですから！
そして、唐突に思いました。
「人を感動させる話が書きたい！」と！！

…えっ　あんた小説書くの？！

わかりません。。でも、そう思ったらわくわくしてしまったの。
でも、日本で売れてもスケールが小さいな…（おい）
英語で書いたら世界に広まるの早いかな…（おいおいッ）
そういう訳で、いつから書き始めるのかは知りませんが（笑；
とりあえず、英語の小説的表現にもっと親しもうと思いつき、
アマゾンで、この映画の原作を注文してみたです。

そしてまた唐突に、１ヶ月２冊ペースで読む！とかいう目標を立ててみたり。

公にしないと早々にくじけそうなので、ここで発表してみたっすよ。
でもくじけても石投げないでね

Frank Miller's Sin City

The movie I saw with Nuk-Nuk this evening was Frank Miller's Sin City.
Check this out!! SIN CITY


A lot of famous movie actors, including Bruce Willis, are in it. I bet most of you will be attracted by its gorgeous cast itself and go for this movie. But, bother to take a little moment and check out the synopsis first. This movie is quite unique.

In fact, I found this movie very alternative. If you expect any kind of conclusion, either happy ending or tragic, I wouldn't recommend this movie to you. This movie consists of several stories that take place in the same site, Basin City. Some details are related among the stories but basically nothing to do with each of them. And ... no obvious endings. No perfect story-line like a series of introduction, development, turn and conclusion. It may be hard to digest for some of you. Plus, bunches of violent scenes come out. You need to be prepared in advance otherwise you will get sick. The famous Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, Elijah Wood, was dismembered and fed to dogs "alive," for example...

What I enjoyed were the beauty and coolness of the whores living in the city, the powerful act of Benicio Del Toro.

In Basin City, there are tens of whores organizing a guild. They are protecting themselves from the evil police wielding its power. I was thrilled when Miho, one of them who was in Japanese Ninja kimono, silently attacked the bad guys. She was a well-trained Samurai-sword master. And the leader of the whore guild, Becky was spotlessly beautiful. Her body-line was perfect but her determined faces were the most eye-catching. I hardly looked away when her face were up in screen.

I first saw Benicio Del Toro in another movie called Traffic some years ago. The movie won many awards including Academy, if I remember correctly. The movie was, for me, complicated to get the whole story at one time though, his sexy voice was unforgettable. Heh, heh. Oh, my gosh, he was way sexier in Sin City! He was killed ( or should I say that he killed himself?) quite badly after all and that gave me the creeps for a long while.

All the characters in this movie are unique and cool but I can't explain them all. I can't take some (such as stinky Yellow Bustard... ) but most of them are great to watch!! I don't mean I like violence ( too much violence in this movie!!!!!) but it was thrilling.
I think you can guess what kind of movie it is if you find that Quentin Tarantino took part in it as a guest director. He is the director of Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and so on. ... See?

The bottom line is ... I quite liked it! I appreciate it as a piece of art. Check it out if you are a big fan of, say, comic books!!
