I caught a movie called ALEXANDER today.
It is the story about the world famous great king of before Christ, Alexander. He led his huge army Eastward to India, where no Westerner had never been that far by then. Conquering countries along the way.
I heard from a friend that the movie was OK but, say, National Treasure starring Nicolas Cage was more fun to watch. Yeah, right. I thought so when seeing the trailers. National Treasure seemed to be more entertaining.
I found Alexander spectacular and interesting enogh to see, though. It's worth spending three hours (!) in theatre.
Angelina Jolie was exotic and powerful in her performance. I liked the costumes Persian army was wearing. I was sick of battle scenes but it's not the movie Alexander's fault. That is how I feel every time I see war movies.
The friend told me that some people don't like this story because in this movie, Alexander was gay. So I had assumed the story was, in a way, dirty. It wasn't, of course. He was described as gay but it was absolutely acceptable. He sincerely loved his closest friend and his soldier, Hephaistion. He loved him back but they never even kissed.
I'd say there is not much story in this movie but there are passion, courage, ambition, and love.
I like it.

アメリカやカナダはやっぱり本場だけに、新しい映画を一番乗りで観れるのが良い
