廿六年秋八月癸酉朔、高麗遣使貢方物、因以言「隋煬帝興卅萬衆攻我、返之爲我所破。故、貢獻俘虜貞公・普通二人及鼓吹弩抛石之類十物幷土物駱駝一匹。」
是年、遣河邊臣闕名於安藝國令造舶。至山覓舶材、便得好材、以將伐。時有人曰「霹靂木也、不可伐。」河邊臣曰「其雖雷神、豈逆皇命耶。」多祭幣帛、遣人夫令伐。則大雨雷電之。爰、河邊臣案劒曰「雷神無犯人夫、當傷我身」而仰待之、雖十餘霹靂不得犯河邊臣。卽化少魚、以挾樹枝。卽取魚焚之。遂脩理其舶。
廿七年夏四月己亥朔壬寅、近江國言、於蒲生河有物、其形如人。秋七月、攝津國有漁父、沈罟於堀江、有物入罟、其形如兒、非魚非人不知所名。
廿八年秋八月、掖玖人二口、流來於伊豆嶋。冬十月、以砂礫、葺檜隈陵上。則域外積土成山。仍毎氏科之、建大柱於土山上。時、倭漢坂上直樹柱勝之太高、故時人號之曰大柱直也。

Year 26 of her reign, Autumn, 8th Month, Day of Kiyou (1st Day of the Month)
The kingdom of Goguryeo (高麗) sent envoys to present local tribute goods and stated, “Emperor Yang of Sui (隋煬帝) raised an army of 300,000 to invade our land. However, our forces repelled them and emerged victorious. Thus, we offer two prisoners, Teikō (貞公) and Futō (普通), along with ten types of items, including drums, flutes, crossbows, and stone-throwing machines, as well as a camel from our homeland.”
This Year:
Kawabe no Omi (河邊臣) was dispatched to Aki Province (安芸国) to oversee the construction of a ship. While searching the mountains for suitable timber, they found excellent materials and prepared to cut them. At that moment, someone warned:
“That is a sacred tree inhabited by the thunder god. It should not be felled.” Kawabe no Omi replied,
“Even if it is the thunder god, how could he defy the Emperor’s command?” He offered many sacred offerings (幣帛) and ordered the workers to cut the tree. Suddenly, there was heavy rain and lightning. Kawabe no Omi, grasping the hilt of his sword, declared:
“Thunder god, do not harm the workers. If you must strike, harm me instead!” He looked to the heavens and awaited the thunder. Over ten lightning strikes occurred, yet none harmed Kawabe no Omi. The thunder god transformed into a small fish, which became trapped in the tree’s branches. The fish was captured and burned. The ship was then successfully constructed.
Year 27, Summer, 4th Month, Day of Kinotoi (4th Day of the Month):
A report came from Ōmi Province (近江国), stating, “There is a strange object floating in the Gamō River (蒲生川). It resembles a human in form.”
Autumn, 7th Month:
In Settsu Province (摂津国), a fisherman cast his net in Horie (堀江) and caught something unusual. It resembled a child but was neither a fish nor a human. Its nature and name were unknown.
Year 28, Autumn, 8th Month:
Two people from Yakushima (掖玖島, present-day 屋久島) drifted ashore on Izu Island (伊豆嶋).
Winter, 10th Month:
Pebbles were laid as paving stones on the tomb mound of Hinokuma (檜隈陵), the burial site of Emperor Kinmei (欽明帝) and Lady Kashiwade no Hime (堅塩媛). Soil from surrounding areas was piled up into a mountain, and each clan was tasked with building a great pillar atop the mound. One of the pillars, constructed by Yamato no Aya no Sakanoe no Atai (倭漢坂上直), was exceptionally tall. Because of this, people at the time nicknamed him “Ōhashira no Atai” (大柱直, meaning “Master of the Great Pillar”).

(在位)二十六年、秋、八月、癸酉(みずのととり)の日（朔日）：
高麗(こうらい)が使者を送りが献上品を奉った。そして以下のように述べた。「隋の煬帝(ようだい)は、三十万の軍勢をもって我が国を攻めましたが、返って我が軍に破れました。このため、捕虜として貞公(ていこう)と普通(ふとう)の二名をはじめ、鼓(つづみ)、吹(ふえ)、弩(おおゆみ)、石弓(いしゆみ)など十種の武具、および国の産物として駱駝(らくだ)一匹を献上いたします。」
同年、河辺臣(かわべのおみ)を安芸国(あきのくに)に派遣し、船を建造させた。彼は山中に入り、船材を探していたところ、非常に良い材木を見つけたため、これを伐採しようとした。そのとき、ある者が言った。
「それは雷神の宿る木である。伐ってはならない。」これに対し、河辺臣は答えた。「たとえ雷神であろうとも、どうして天皇陛下のご命令に逆らうことができようか」。そう言って、多くの幣帛(みてぐら)を捧げ、人夫に伐採を命じた。すると、激しい雨と雷が襲った。しかし河辺臣は剣の柄を握り、こう言った。
「雷神よ、天皇陛下の民を害してはならない。害するならば我が身を害するがよい」。そして天を仰ぎ、雷を待ち受けた。十余りの雷鳴が轟いたが、雷神は河辺臣を害することはできなかった。その後、雷神は小さな魚となり、木の枝に挟まれていた。この魚を捕らえ、焼き払った。そしてついに目的の船を完成させた。

近江国(おうみのくに)から次のような報告があった。「蒲生川(がもうがわ)に何か不思議な物が浮かんでおります。その形は人のように見えます。」
秋、7月、摂津国(せっつのくに)のある漁師が、堀江(ほりえ)で網を沈めて漁をしていたところ、網に奇妙な物がかかった。それは赤子のような形をしていたが、魚でもなく、人でもなく、その正体も名も分からなかった。

屋久島(やくしま)の住民二人が、伊豆島(いずしま)に漂着した。
冬、十月、
桧隈陵(ひのくまのみささぎ 欽明天皇と堅塩媛(きたしひめ)の御陵）の敷石として砂礫(さざれ石 古墳用の細石）を敷いた。また、周囲の土を集め、山を築いた。そして、各氏に命じてその土山の上に大柱を建てさせた。このとき、倭漢坂上直(やまとのあやさかのえのあたい)が建てた柱が、特に高かった。そのため、当時の人々は彼を「大柱直(おおはしらのあたい)」と呼んだ。
