『古事記』安康天皇 2
爾大長谷王子、當時童男、卽聞此事、以慷愾忿怒、乃到其兄黑日子王之許曰「人取天皇、爲那何。」然、其黑日子王、不驚而有怠緩之心。於是、大長谷王詈其兄言「一爲天皇、一爲兄弟、何無恃心。聞殺其兄、不驚而怠乎。」卽握其衿控出、拔刀打殺。亦到其兄白日子王而、告狀如前、緩亦如黑日子王。卽握其衿以引率來、到小治田、掘穴而隨立埋者、至埋腰時、兩目走拔而死。
亦興軍、圍都夫良意美之家、爾興軍待戰、射出之矢、如葦來散。於是、大長谷王、以矛爲杖、臨其內詔「我所相言之孃子者、若有此家乎。」爾都夫良意美、聞此詔命、自參出、解所佩兵而、八度拜白者「先日所問賜之女子・訶良比賣者侍、亦副五處之屯宅以獻。所謂五村屯宅者、今葛城之五村苑人也。然、其正身、所以不參向者、自往古至今時、聞臣連隱於王宮、未聞王子隱於臣家。是以思、賤奴・意富美者、雖竭力戰、更無可勝。然、恃己入坐于隨家之王子者、死而不棄。」
如此白而、亦取其兵、還入以戰。爾力窮矢盡、白其王子「僕者手悉傷、矢亦盡、今不得戰。如何。」其王子答詔「然者更無可爲。今殺吾。」故以刀刺殺其王子、乃切己頸以死也。
≪英訳≫
During that time, Prince Ōhatsuse, who was a youth at the time, heard about this matter and became filled with anger and resentment. He went to his elder brother, Prince Kurohiko, and said, ‘Someone has killed the Emperor. What should we do?’ However, Prince Kurohiko remained calm and showed indifference.
Prince Ōhatsuse scolded his brother, saying, ‘One moment you are an Emperor, the next a brother. How can you be so indifferent? Hearing about the murder of your brother, how can you remain so untroubled?’ He then seized his brother’s collar, drew his sword, and killed him. He did the same with his other brother, Prince Shirohiko, reporting the matter as before. However, Prince Shirohiko also showed indifference. Prince Ōhatsuse again seized his collar and brought him to the place called Owarida. There, he dug a hole and buried him. When he reached the point of burying his waist, both his eyes popped out, and he died.
Prince Ōhatsuse raised an army and besieged the house of Tsuburaho Omi. When the army stood waiting for battle, the arrows shot by Prince Ōhatsuse scattered like reeds. Prince Ōhatsuse, using his spear as a staff, approached and issued a decree to the inside, saying, ‘The maiden I spoke of earlier, is she in this house?’ Upon hearing this decree, Tsuburaohomi came forward, removed his weapons, and prostrated himself eight times. He said, ‘I will give you the maiden you inquired about earlier, Karahime. I will also prepare five storehouses for you. However, the reason I do not come forward myself is that from ancient times until now, I have heard of subjects hiding in the sovereign’s palace, but I have never heard of a prince hiding in a subject’s house. Therefore, I, Ohomi, even if I exhaust my strength in battle, will not achieve victory. However, if you trust me and sit in the house, I will not abandon you even in death.’
After saying this, he took his weapons and returned to battle. When his strength was depleted and his arrows were spent, he said to his son, ‘My hands are injured, and we have no more arrows. We can no longer fight. What should we do?’ His son replied, ‘In that case, there is no other choice. Please kill me.’ So, he killed his son with a sword and then cut his own neck and died.
≪この英文の和訳≫
その当時、少年であった大長谷(おおはつせ)王(皇子)は、この事件を聞いて怒りと悲しみに満たされました。彼は兄である黒日子(くろひこ)王(皇子)のもとに行き、こう言いました。「誰かが天皇を殺しました。どうしたら良いでしょうか」しかし、クロヒコ王は平静を保ち、無関心な態度を示しました。
オオハツセの王は兄を責めました。「一方では天皇であり、一方では兄弟です。どうしてこんなに無関心なのですか。兄弟が殺されたと聞いて、どうして無関心のままでいられるのでしょうか」。彼は兄の衣の襟をつかんで刀を抜いて兄を殺しました。その後も同様のことを兄であるシロヒコ王にも行い、事件を報告しましたが、シロヒコ王も同じように無関心でした。オオハツセ王は再び兄の衣の襟をつかみ、小治田(オワリダ)まで引きつれて、穴を掘り、埋めました。兄の腰まで埋まった時、両目が飛び出して死にました。
その後、オオハツセの王は軍を起こし、ツブラオホミの家を包囲しました。軍が待機する中、オオハツセの王が放った矢は葦のように射られました。オオハツセの王は矛を杖にして、家の中に向って言いました。「私が以前話した孃子(おとめ)はこの家にいるか？」と。これに応じて、ツブラオホミが自ら出てきて、武器を解き、八度も礼拝して言いました。「以前お尋ねなされたカラ姫を差し上げます。また、五つの倉を用意しましょう。しかし、私が自分で参加しない理由は、昔から今に至るまで、臣下が皇帝の宮殿に隠れることは聞いたことがありますが、皇子が臣下の家に隠れることはまだ聞いたことがありません。ですから、私、オオミは、力を尽くしても勝つことはできないでしょう。しかし、私を信じて家にお座りなさっていれば、死んでも見捨てはしません」
これを言った後、彼は武器を取り、戦いに戻りました。力尽き、矢が尽きた時、彼は皇子に言いました。「手が負傷し、矢も尽きました。もう戦うことはできません。どういたしましょう？」皇子は答えました。「それならもう致し方ない。私を殺してくれ」。そこで彼は皇子を刀で刺し殺し、自分の首を切って死にました。
