Prior to our tour, we had briefing of the course and background of the local area Chiyoda-ku, historically and geographically where Sophia Univ. located in. This is the 7th walking joint tour (including former course Imperial Eastern Garden Course, Zojoji temple course,) with CIEE (Council on International Education Exchange) students since it started two years ago. Edo Tokyo Guide Group used to provide them with English language guide, though This time we graded up a little bit to make one group of the Japanese language used group for the students with Japanese good skill. We started Campus in Yotsuya →State Guest House→Shimizudani park→Benkei bori & bridge→ Akasaka Mitsuke mon →Liberal Democratic Party→Democratic Party of Japan→Supreme Court of Justice→National Library of Parliament →National Houses of Parliament→ Parliamentary Museum & garden→Kasumigaseki→Sakurada mon gate, and our goal Niju bashi bridge. The students were touched by historic incidents occurred in these sites when the great change has been done from the end of Edo era to Meiji Restoration, actually ” Dawn of the new age in this country”.
