2012-06-06 | with CIEE

Master of wagashi shop coming from the outskirts of Tokyo taught them wagashi-making.     We are familiar with many kinds of Wagashi

Most of Japanese love it. Especially Jou-namagashi is popular for being served at tea ceremony.

Jou-namagashi has its lovely shape representing the seasonal things as

flowers, birds, plants etc.

Wagashi craftsman showed students demonstration of making wagashi.

Watching carefully fingertip work of craftsman

Anko(sweet beans paste) and nerikiri colored with pink, green etc are used for Jou-namagashi as its ingredients.

The students challenged to make two shape of wagashi; morning glory and

maple leaf.

It is not easy.   Concentrated on making vain of morning glory

Leaf is made from sheet of green jelly bean paste(yokan)
