Polish scientists visited fish market for their research((4/27)

2012-05-02 | Guide Report

On this tour they already dropped in a few local fish markets In Fukuoka, Kobeand today went up toTsukiji Fish Market for the purpose of collecting the pieces of research sample.  I really not knew how they take a sample of fish fin because that is out of our line.

I know the people who work on the market are really gentle with nice heart though I was afraid they do not want have the aliens touch and even slightly cut the fin of valuable fishes  It was surprising me that no master of fish market shops unwillingly accepted their request !!

Furthermore I amazingly saw them so quickly and carefully took slight pieces of sample fin from fish by using their own small scissors.

When they found beautiful golden threadfin-bream(イトヨリ)named after the light red color of the body and yarrow stripes appears twisting the golden thread when fishes in the sea they looked so excited to see the rare fishes for Polish.

It was so kind of shop’s master to show them the large sized illustrated book and pointed us the page of the fish(イトヨリ)

Polish scientists have been traveling abroad for researching and collecting samples very often. Also attending international conference. I heard they stopped by Fukuoka once before on the international conference.

They got success to collect 20 kinds of fish fins including the rare ones, sunfish(マンボウ), golden threadfin-beam(イトヨリ) etc.

They looked very happy to achieve a task perfectly, gaining fruits on this trip.

It is rare news there is a small library in the market, the old building called “Uogashi-yokocho”, going up stairs in dark building the small nostalgic world of books・・・fishes, history of Tsukiji, any other ones.  I remembered the elementary school’s library room.

After staying fish market for 2 hours, we started sightseeing for their next purpose on this trip, Hamarikyu-garden, Sumidagawa cruising etc.

I learned on this guide pretty much !! about  collection of fin sample, the hospitality and kindness of Tsukiji people, market library,  behavior of scientists, the Polish and Its country・・・mostly are the first experience and inspired me !!

Thank you so much, Jola & Maciej,  and wishing you enjoy the time left in Tokyo !!
