発達段階を基にした、振り付け。
フェルデンクライスのAwareness Through Movement を使っての動き作りを実験的に実践してきた私にとっては、非常に興味深いセミナーとなりそうだ。
今回は、友人のBody Mind Centeringのプラクティショナ−であるDavid Franceの紹介で通訳として参加することになっています。

Wendell Beaversはナロッパ大学の美術学修・現代パフォーマンスプログラムの創立者であり、ニューヨーク大学Theater Wing・ムーブメント研究学部の創設者でもあります。彼が今回京都にて、特別なセミナーをすることになりました。
「Developmental Technique™:オリジナルのムーブメントの創作 」

このワークショップでは、移動運動における基本的な動きを、最も原始的なものから複雑なものまで、その発達段階を追いながら紹介していきます。これらの発達段階の動きを使って、独自の振り付けへと発展させたり、参加者の皆さんで、いくつかの枠組みの中での即興ダンスをしたりします。
ウェンデル氏はこのテクニックを、肉体演劇の基礎として、またダンスの振り付けの方法として、長年に渡り指導してきました。
時間が許せば、今回のワークショップの中で短い作品を創ってみようと思います。このテクニックは、ボニー・ベインブリッジ・コーエン氏によるボディ・マインド・センタリング®（BMC）という身体に対するアプローチを、ムーヴメント研究やダンスの創作に応用したものです。
Wendellは、主にニューヨークのDanspaceプロジェクト／ダンスシアターワークショップ／PS 122／Judson教会／アメリカンダンスフェスティバルのSix Week School等にて振り付けを演出、プロデュースしています。彼は現在、利賀にある鈴木忠志カンパニーのオブサーバーとして在日し、また関西のムーブメン トコミュニティーと共 に、動きや身体的な演出についての彼オリジナルのテクニックを、多くの人々と共有、提案しています。

Wendell Beavers, founder of Naropa University's MFA Contemporary Performance Program and founding faculty of New York University's Experimental Theater Wing and Movement Research in New York City will be teaching a special seminar in Kyoto.
「Developmental Technique™: Creating Original Movement」
with Wendell Beavers
This workshop will be an introduction to developmental movement, basic patterns of human locomotion, from the most primitive to the most complex. We will apply this vocabulary to making original choreography and moving together in structured improvisations. Wendell has taught this work as a basis for physical acting as well as creation of dance choreography. We will Create a short piece if time allows in the workshop. The work is based on Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen's Body-Mind Centering material and applied to movement study and dance making.
Wendell's choreography has been produced mainly in New York City at Danspace Project, Dance Theater Workshop, PS 122, Judson Church, and at the American Dance Festivals Six Week School. He is currently in Japan as an observer of Tadashi Suzuki's company in Toga and has generously offered to share his original teachings on movement and physical acting with the movement community of Kansai.
